Flood (torrent) سيل

In a dream, a flood is an attack by an enemy, just as an enemy’s attack is like a flood. Whoever sees a flood from rain will suffer harm, or fall ill, or go on a tiring journey. If the flood rises up to the shops, it is a deluge or tyranny from the ruler. If the flood makes its way into the river, he will repel an enemy of his through the king and will seek help from a strong man, and so escape his evil; the interpretation of the strong man is the axe or the shovel used for digging.

Whoever sees that he is keeping the flood away from his house will keep an enemy from harming his family or his entourage. A flood indicates an enemy when it destroys houses, ruins trees, kills livestock or drowns human beings. If people benefit from it in the dream because it is clear, sweet and calm, it indicates successive caravans returning laden with good things and people benefiting from them. A flood also indicates babbling and lying in speech. If the flood runs with blood and carcasses, it indicates the loathing and wrath of God the Exalted. Seeing a flood is also a sign of rainfall. A flood may indicate its owner’s tongue, and it indicates a sharp-tongued, domineering woman, especially when it enters his house. It also indicates a swift racehorse, and a pursuing messenger coming from the direction in which it was seen. A flood may indicate something flowing such as honey, milk or oil: if he sees that he is collecting from the flood and putting it in a vessel, while people are happy, distributing it and eating from it, it indicates the cheapness of what we mentioned — honey, milk, oil and the like. A flood may also indicate highway robbery by armed factions, or by a lion or a venomous creature. A flood out of its season may indicate religious innovation (heresy) coming from the direction from which the flood came. Water that drowns the land is a calamity and a financial loss afflicting people, an enemy marching against them, or an epidemic befalling them — unless it is water that came down from the sky, for then it is goodness, relief and blessing for people.

Whoever sees that a flood entered people’s homes and carried away their wealth and livestock, it is an enemy who will raid them, or a calamity that will befall them. Every overpowering water has no good in it. Whatever overflows from a well, a water channel, a spring or a river, in an unknown or known place, muddy or clear, little or much — all of that is worry, distress and sorrow. Any clear water whose aggression is not feared and whose harm need not be guarded against is a good life for whoever owns it, drinks it or obtains some of it. A flood in winter indicates a group of sinners who have no knowledge, and a group of evil people.

Whoever sees that he came out of that water swimming to dry land will escape from a tyrannical ruler. If he is unable to cross and turns back, let him beware of sitting before a tyrannical judge, and let him not disobey his superior. If the flood heads for his home, he will make peace with his enemy and keep his harm away. A flood entering a city indicates an epidemic if people are suffering from some of that, or if its color is the color of blood or it is muddy.
