In a dream it signifies the channel of provision, its place and its cause, such as a shop, a craft, travel and the like. It may signify sores, because it carries water along its course while watering gardens. It may signify a water-carrier and a water-dispensing place. It may signify the main road of travel. It may signify the throat, because it is the body's channel. It may signify the life of all people if it is public, or the life of its builder if it is private. An irrigation channel that one man can dam and in which one does not drown does not have the meaning of a river, but rather a good life for whoever owns it specifically, as long as the water does not overflow its defined course in the ground. If it overflows its course to the right and left, it is worry, sorrow and weeping for the people of that place. Likewise, if the channel runs among the houses and homes, it is a good life if its water is sweet and clear. It is also said: whoever owns running water will attain leadership and benefit.
Whoever sees an irrigation channel filled with dung and sweepings, and he washed it and removed what was in it, will take an enema and his bowels will be eased.
Whoever sees water flowing from his legs will be afflicted with dropsy.
Whoever sees an irrigation channel carrying clear water from outside the city into it through a trench, with the people praising God the Exalted for it, drinking its water and filling their vessels from it: if they are in an epidemic, it will clear and God, glory be to Him, will grant them life; if they are in hardship, God the Exalted's decree of ease will come to them, either through continual rain or a caravan with food; and if none of that is the case, a caravan will come to them with much money to buy goods and whatever merchandise has gone unsold among them. If its water is murky or salty, or spills out of the channel harming people, it is an evil that comes upon people and spreads among them: either a general sickness, like colds in winter and fever in summer, or unwelcome news about travelers, or unlawful singing and foul money. As for one who sees it flowing to his house or shop, its meaning returns to him personally, according to how clear and sweet its water is and how even its flow. A channel of blood in the house signifies the corruption of the woman in that house.
Whoever sees that the irrigation channel left its course and harmed people: it is bad news that comes to them or spreads among them. The irrigation channel may also be a woman.
Whoever sees an irrigation channel that he cut off: it is a severing of relations between him and a woman who is a close relative (mahram) of his.
Whoever sees that he left behind an irrigation channel will die, and his wife will survive him.
Whoever sees that he draws water from an irrigation channel will obtain good and live a good life.
Whoever sees that he drinks sweet water from an irrigation channel or a river will obtain a pleasant life and long life; and if the water is murky or bitter, his life will be in worry and fear or hardship. It is also said it is illness in proportion to what he drank of it. Irrigation channels are servants under orders and prohibitions. Irrigation channels may also signify the veins of the body, by whose watering the body grows.
