Clouds سحاب

In a dream, clouds indicate Islam, through which people have life and salvation; and they are a cause of God's mercy, because they carry the water through which creatures live. Clouds may indicate knowledge, jurisprudence, wisdom and eloquence, because of the subtlety of wisdom in them. They may indicate armies and travel companions, because they carry water, which points to creatures who were created from water. They may indicate camels laden with what grows by water, such as grain and flax. They may indicate ships moving through water, neither on land nor in the sky, laden and driven by the winds. They may indicate women's pregnancy. They may indicate rain, because rain comes from them and they are its cause. They may indicate the ruler's sudden actions, his punishment and his commands, if they are black or accompanied by thunderbolts or stones.

Whoever sees clouds in his house, or descending upon him in his room, will embrace Islam if he is a disbeliever; or he will attain blessing and wise judgment if he is a believer; or his wife will conceive if he desires that; or his camels or his ship will arrive, if he has anything of the sort. If he sees himself riding on top of the clouds, or sees them moving, he will marry a righteous woman if he is single; or he will travel, or perform the pilgrimage, if he hopes for that; otherwise he will become famous for knowledge and wisdom if he seeks it; otherwise he will lead an army or a detachment, or be advanced to high rank if he is worthy of it; otherwise the ruler will raise him onto a noble mount, if he is one who seeks his protection and is a man; otherwise he will send him out as a messenger on a thoroughbred camel. If he sees successive clouds arriving, clear to see, while people are waiting for water, and they are rain clouds with no sign of punishment in them, then whatever people are expecting and awaiting will come to that region: a governor arriving, a company coming, armies advancing or caravans entering. If he sees them fall on land, or come down upon houses, fields, trees or plants, they are torrents, rains, locusts, sandgrouse or sparrows. If along with that there is something in them indicating worry and harm, such as a scorching wind, violent wind, fire, stones, snakes or scorpions, then it is a raid that will befall them and strike them in their homes; or a caravan company arriving with news of the death of most of its members who died on their journey; or a levy the ruler imposes on them; or locusts or a plague harming their crops and their livelihoods; or doctrines and heresies spreading openly among them and proclaimed over their heads. It is also said that clouds are a great king, or a kind and merciful ruler, or a scholar, or a sage.

Whoever sees that he mingled with the clouds will mingle with a man from among the people we have described. If he eats the clouds, he will benefit from a man through lawful wealth or wisdom. If he gathers them, he will gain wisdom from a man like that. If he possesses them, he will gain wisdom and kingship. If he mingles with them but carries nothing away from them, he will mingle with scholars but put none of their knowledge to use. If he rides the clouds, his standing will rise and he will rise high in his wisdom. If he sees that his child is made of clouds, his worldly life comes from wisdom. If he sees that his worldly fortune is made of clouds, his good fortune and his striving come from wisdom. If he sees that his weapon is made of clouds, he is a man skilled in argument; if he is not worthy of that, it applies to his child, his chief, his namesake or his peer. If the cloud is black, it is wisdom with lordship, manliness and joy. If there is something terrifying with the clouds, he will suffer a terror from a strong, wise man. If he sees that he built a house on the clouds, he will attain noble, lawful worldly goods together with wisdom and elevation. If he builds a palace on the clouds, he will avoid sins through wisdom that he gains, and attain good things that he comes to know through wisdom, and palaces in Paradise. If he sees in his hand a cloud from which rain falls, he will attain wisdom and wisdom will flow from his tongue. If he turns into a cloud raining on people, he will gain wealth and people will gain from him. If he sees his cloud rise and rain gold down upon him, he will learn from a wise man some refinement in worldly matters. Clouds without rain: if the person is associated with governing, he will not be fair or just; if he is associated with trade, he will not honor what he sells or what he guarantees; if he is a scholar, he will be stingy with his knowledge; if he is a craftsman, he is skilled and wise in his craft, not stingy, giving good counsel, and people need him and benefit from him. Clouds are rulers who have favor over people, while people have no hand over them. If a cloud with thunder and lightning rises, an awe-inspiring ruler will appear, threatening with the truth. Whoever sees that he heard a man from the clouds of the sky will be granted the pilgrimage, God willing.

Whoever sees that a cloud came down from the sky, spread out and rained a widespread rain, the leader will send to that place a governor who is just among them. If the cloud is black and rains, the governor will be just; if it is white and rains, he will be a just and blessed governor. It is also said that whoever sees clouds in their proper season will attain good, blessing, favor and wealth. If he sees clouds raining in their proper time and season, God will widen provision in that town; if they are in drought, He will widen it for them and bring them out of it. If he sees black clouds without rain, he will attain benefit; it may also be a sign of severe cold or of sorrow. If he sees red clouds out of season, the people of that town or district will be struck by distress, strife or illness. If he sees clouds rising from the earth to the sky and shading a town, it indicates good and blessing; if the dreamer intends a journey, it will be accomplished for him and he will return not unharmed; if he is unhappy, he will reach his wish in the joy he seeks; and if he fights people by the ruler's command, he will triumph over them. If he sees dark clouds, he will suffer worry and grief, and all their affairs will be closed off to him. White clouds in a dream are a sign of work. Clouds that a person sees as if rising from the earth to the sky indicate travel; for one who is traveling, they indicate his return from his journey; and they indicate the emergence of hidden things. Red clouds indicate idleness. Dark clouds indicate grief. Black clouds indicate severe cold or sorrow. Red clouds may indicate troops entering that town, and resolve and scheming.

Whoever sees that he took something from the clouds will gain a great deal of wisdom, or will increase in tillage, crops and estates.

Whoever sees that he rode the clouds or traveled upon them will attain all wisdom.

Whoever sees that the clouds came toward him in the dream, it is good deeds and justice, good news and relief from every worry; but if he is one of the corrupt, it is a penalty and a punishment that will befall him.

Whoever sees clouds covering the sun, the king will fall ill, or be overpowered, or be removed from his authority. Ja'far al-Sadiq, may God be pleased with him, said: whoever sees that his shirt is made of clouds has been enveloped by a blessing from God. Clouds indicate the end of worries, troubles and fears, and the manifestation of miracles of grace, because that is among what appears for the saints when they pray for rain, and for the prophets as protection from the heat. Clouds may indicate harmony, because of the words of God Most High:

“Do you not see that Allāh drives clouds? Then He brings them together; then He makes them into a mass, and you see the rain emerge from within it. And He sends down from the sky, mountains [of clouds] within which is hail, and He strikes with it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightning almost takes away the eyesight.”
