Bull (ox) ثور

In a dream it is the chief of a people, and the steward of a house, town or village. A single bull is an office lasting one year; and for a ruler, a merchant or a craftsman, a year's trade.

Whoever sees that he has many bulls will take charge of an office, if he is fit for it, with leaders under his hand whom he directs in his office in proportion to how obedient he saw them to be. If he sees that he rode one of the bulls, good and fertility will be driven to him.

Whoever sees that he ate the head of a bull will obtain office and authority, as long as the bull is not red. If he is a merchant, he will obtain trade and partners who will be under his hand; and if he is a man of the market, they are his hired workers. The bull is a worker [official]: whoever sees that he rode a bull will subdue a worker; if there is a load on the bull, the worker will collect money for him according to the size and kind of the load; and if he brings it into his home while riding it, good will be driven to him. If the bull is red, his son will fall ill or his family will die. The bull is a king. The bull is an enemy of the class of officials. If a bull is slaughtered for food, its meat is lawful provision.

Whoever sees that he bought a bull will humor friends and the nobles among people with gentle, good words. Ibn Sirin, may God the Exalted have mercy on him, said [of cattle]: they are non-Arabs; and more than fourteen head of cattle is war, while fewer than that is a dispute. The bull is a great man with standing and strength; its meat is wealth coming from him, and its fat is provision in its year. Whoever sees that a bull turned into a wolf, an official of his will become unjust. If he sees a white bull, he will obtain good. If it gores him with its horn, it indicates God the Exalted's displeasure. Whoever eats bull meat in his dream will become rich. Whoever rides it will obtain elevation. If the bull mounts him in the dream or kicks him, he will die within the year. Whoever is bitten by it will be overtaken by an ailment. Whoever is butted by it, God the Exalted will grant him righteous children. Whoever a bull bellows at will travel a distant journey.

Whoever sees a bull while he is imprisoned in waking life, or ill, or in hardship, or enslaved, will be delivered from it.

Whoever sees as if a bull is plowing for him: if he is a farmer or landowner, his farming will be blessed and his fertility increased; if he is a merchant, loss will overtake him and his trade will turn against him; and if he is a jurist or scholar, he will increase in righteousness.

Whoever sees as if a bull threw him down will come close to destruction, or die of the illness he has. The bull indicates severe hardship, and threats and expulsion by someone of higher rank than that person, if the dreamer is poor or a slave. For one who travels by sea, it indicates hardship that will confront him on his voyage, on account of the ship's sail, because of the bull's hide and horns.

Whoever sees a herd of cattle will be struck by hardship in his affairs. If he rides the bull, his standing will rise and he will become renowned. If the bull speaks to him, or he speaks to the bull, aversion will arise between him and a man. The bull's horns are years for officials.

Whoever sees as if a huge bull came out of a small hole and then wanted to go back into that hole but it was too narrow for it, it is the great word that comes out of a man's mouth which he wants to take back but cannot.

Whoever sees as if he is riding a black bull and the bull is biting him, threatening him and intending harm to him will travel by sea, be struck by hardship, and things will become so severe for his ship that it nearly sinks, but then it will be saved from that.

Whoever sees bulls entering a city, they are enemies, oppressors and thieves who will enter it.

Whoever sees a bull pulling him and moving him from his place: if he is a governor, he will be dismissed. It is also said that the bull indicates a transgressing man; if it is killed or slaughtered, the rebel and transgressor will perish.

Whoever sees that he rode a bull will obtain a post from a ruler in which he will gain good.

Whoever sees that he rode a black bull will obtain wealth. If he sees that he brought it into his home and secured it, he will obtain good in that year. If the bull has many horns, they are years according to their few or many number. A hornless bull is a lowly, humble, poor man, like a ewe; and in power, like a dismissed official or a poor chief. It may indicate a Bedouin man and a plowman. It may indicate a rebel [tha'ir], because it stirs up [yuthir] the earth and turns its top to its bottom. It may indicate a slave, a helper, a companion and a brother, because it helps in plowing and serves the people of the countryside. Whoever owns a bull in a dream: if it is a woman, her husband will be humbled before her; if she has no husband, she will marry, or if she has a daughter, she will be married off. If someone with authority sees that, he will triumph over [someone] and obtain from him what he hoped for; and if he rides it, that is stronger. Whoever slaughters a bull: if he is a ruler, he will kill an official; and if he is an ordinary person, it is someone he fears who will fall into his power; or [he will cause] a person to be killed through testimony he gives against him. Whoever slaughters it to eat its meat or its fat or to tan its hide: if he is a ruler, he will help against another and order his wealth plundered; if he is a merchant, he will open his storehouse for sale or [take] the whole profit; if it is fat, his wealth will profit, and if it is lean, he will lose in it. Whoever rides a red or yellow bull without riding tack will fall ill. The bull may indicate a handsome young man, because that is one of its names. Seeing it indicates the stirring up [thawran] of strife, or help in subduing difficult matters, especially for those who plow and farm. Seeing it may indicate dullness and absent-mindedness. A piebald bull is joy and happiness, and a black one is lordship and healing for the sick.
