(May God be pleased with him.) Seeing him in a dream signifies devotion to knowledge and dedication to gathering it, keeping affection, and humility toward God the Exalted and His servants, together with the caliphate, trustworthiness and command. Seeing him may signify enemies attacking the dreamer and getting something from him, and his attaining martyrdom. He may attain good fortune, provision, office and closeness to great people by way of marriage ties, because he was Dhu al-Nurayn ["possessor of the two lights"] and husband of the two daughters [of the Prophet].
(Whoever sees) 'Uthman (may God be pleased with him) alive is devout, striving with himself and his wealth, memorizes the Quran and is wary of his adversaries. Whoever sees him will be dutiful and keep family ties, and he may be killed unjustly. Seeing him signifies eagerness for knowledge and the Quran and much recitation. Whoever sees him in the City of the Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, will attain a heart free of deceit. Whoever sees him in an army or wearing weapons will stir up strife among the shaykhs of knowledge and jurisprudence. If he sees him dealing and selling, the dreamer is one who seeks this world, adorns himself with knowledge and earns by it, though he is not of its people.
(Whoever sees) 'Uthman killed in his house reviles the family of the Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, and his heart does not incline to them. Whoever sees him in Medina or in a market will be gathered [on the Day of Resurrection] with the martyrs and the righteous, and will attain knowledge. Whoever sees him besieged in his house has wronged a great scholar.
(Whoever sees) that he was transformed into his form or wore his garment: if he is a sultan, his subjects will kill him; if he is a scholar, he will be plotted against and God the Exalted will be disobeyed on his account.
(Whoever sees) that he accompanied him, partnered with him or lived with him, and he is sound in waking life, let him prepare for a calamity that will strike him by the sword, prison or torment, carried out by one whose mind God has veiled, whom He has made deaf and whose heart He has blinded; then after that calamity his outcome will be praiseworthy. Whoever sees him alive will be granted modesty and dignity, and those who envy him will increase.
