In a dream it is a punishment when it falls on a place. Being struck by a thunderbolt is death. The thunderbolt signifies illnesses and alarming rumors for the one it burns. If it burns something useful, it signifies financial losses and slack trade in that thing. The thunderbolt is a warning to one who commits sins, and it is a fine he will have to pay. Thunderbolts signify the calamities and afflictions with which our Lord strikes whom He wills and turns them away from whom He wills, such as locusts, hail, winds, illnesses, pleurisy [delirious fever], smallpox, plague and fever. It may signify a great outcry and a grave matter coming from the king, bringing destruction, a fine or ruin. The thunderbolt signifies the arrival of an unjust ruler and his settling in the land where it fell; and it may signify other well-known disasters such as a horrible death, fire, collapse of buildings and thieves. Whoever sees a thunderbolt fall in his house: if he is sick, or if he has someone absent, news of [a] death will reach him; if there is suspicion and corruption in his house, the tax official and the governor will descend upon it and the chief of police will gain authority over him; if its owner frequents the ruler, the ruler's command will be carried out against him; otherwise a thief will come upon him by night, or a fire or collapse will befall him.
Whoever sees thunderbolts falling on houses, perhaps the people are rebels, or people returning from absence, or pilgrims or fighters, or a levy will be imposed on the people. If the thunderbolts fall on fields and orchards, they are exactions, tithe-collectors and tax-gatherers, and injustice, corruption, calamities and severe fear will cover that place.
Whoever sees a thunderbolt fall on a town and burn its land, that is a ruler who will settle in that town, from whom corruption will arise, or there will be war in it or severe high prices. It is also said that if the thunderbolt falls without fire, it is a ruler who is arriving.
