Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Cistern (tank) صهريج

In a dream it signifies the wife, because of the water stored in it; and it may signify everything in which money and other things are stored, such as a purse, a treasury, a chest, an underground store and the like. The cistern signifies everyone who is privy to secrets, such as a partner or a child. If water appears in a cistern of oil, it signifies its slack market and ruin, just as if he sees oil in a water cistern it signifies the wealth of its people. The cistern of a hospice or of the congregational mosque signifies its imam or the one who supervises its affairs.

Whoever sees that he has a cistern in a place not suited to it, this signifies a jinn companion attached to the people of the place, or to the place for its owners, and its answering the one who speaks. If a well becomes a cistern, it signifies a middling condition for its people if the well water is salty in waking life, because the cistern's water runs out while the well's water remains. If ghee, honey or milk appears in the cistern, it signifies the wife's pregnancy or a great surplus — unless its people in the dream are thirsty, in which case it signifies hoarding money and withholding from it the right due to God the Exalted, and its people are like those who prefer this world to the Hereafter, or knowledge without practice; and it may signify the withholding of rain and the spending of money because of it. The cistern may signify the belly that keeps what is in it until it is drawn out. It signifies easing of difficulty, honor and high office — except that it is only found among people like them — and it signifies safety from fear.
