In a dream it is a false, fabricated statue, and it is a treacherous person with a handsome face and bad character. Whoever sees that he worships an idol besides God the Exalted is lying against God with a falsehood he invented by his own opinion. If the idol is of wood, he seeks to draw near, through his religion, to a ruler who is oppressive and hypocritical. If it is of firewood, he seeks through his religion argumentation and disputation about religion. If it is of silver, he does in his religion something by which he seeks closeness to a woman or a non-Arab slave-girl, out of treachery or arrogance. If it is of gold, he does in his religion something reprehensible and hateful and seeks closeness to a man whom God the Exalted hates, and harm will come to him from him, and it is feared that he will be fined his wealth or that it will go from him. If it is of brass, iron or lead, he seeks through his religion the world and its goods and forgets his Lord.
Whoever sees one of the idols will travel on a distant journey.
Whoever sees a moving figure of gold or silver will obtain worldly gain. Statues of brass, if a person sees them moving and does not see them as large, signify fertility, a good condition and travel; if he sees them large and moving, they signify alarm and hardship because of their great movement. Statues in a dream signify children the dreamer will have according to his desire and wish.
Whoever sees that he worships an idol, this signifies that he is busy with falsehood, preferring his own whims over the pleasure of his Lord. If the idol he worshipped is of gold, he seeks closeness to a man who worships God and will suffer from him what he dislikes, and his dream signifies the loss of his wealth along with weakness in his religion. If the idol is of silver, he makes his religion a means of reaching treachery and corruption with a woman or a slave-girl. If he sees the idol but does not see himself worshipping it, he will obtain abundant wealth. The idol signifies passionate love for a woman or a youth. Idols signify non-Arabs, simpletons or the mute; and the idol may signify whatever distracts a person from worshipping, such as status, wealth, a beloved, a spouse, a child and the like.
Whoever sees that he has an idol with him will marry a woman who is deaf, or non-Arab, or distraught, or mute, or will be granted a child like that; and whatever increase or decrease happens to the idol, its interpretation returns to the one it signifies and to the dreamer himself. The idol may signify time (fortune), so whatever happens to its limbs happens to the people of the age. Idols may signify steadfastness in affairs. If he breaks them in the dream or disfigures them, he will attain a high rank, triumph over his enemies and be safe from their plots. If the idol signifies a woman, she will be steady in form and sober-minded, or lowly in spirit, or chronically ill, or foolish and conceited.
