In a dream it points to hastening to provide food for one's dependents, and he will gain good praise and a fine reputation. It is also said that jihad indicates provision, and it may indicate following the path of good and right conduct and debating with the people of transgression and obstinacy.
Whoever sees that he is going to jihad will obtain wealth [spoils], favor and ranks in the hereafter.
If he sees that he is striving in the way of God the Exalted and fighting the unbelievers, he is striving hard on behalf of his dependents; the exertion of fighting is the exertion of earning.
If he sees that he is going to jihad with his weapons, he is a striving Muslim who holds fast [to God], establishes prayer and pays zakat.
If he sees that he is fighting the unbelievers alone with his sword, striking right and left with it, he will triumph over his enemies.
If he sees that he was killed in the way of God, he will obtain joy, happiness and pleasant provision.
If he sees that he is on a campaign with his face turned away from the fighting, he will abandon his effort for his dependents and not strive to improve their condition, he will corrupt his religion, and his kinsfolk will be scattered in this world. If he is on a campaign and sees that he was given victory, he will profit in his earnings.
If he sees that he is raiding, he will obtain spoils, if he is on a campaign or in jihad. Jihad against the enemies of religion in a dream is a sign of opposing the people of injustice and hypocrisy and victory over them. Jihad at sea is a sign of poverty, failure, falling into perils and coming into danger between two enemies, the sea and the foe; or seeking provision from the sea or from whoever the sea indicates. Fighting the people of transgression in a dream indicates championing the religion, fathers and mothers, or protective jealousy over one's wife. If the person becomes one of those at war [on the side of] the people of transgression, it is feared for him that he will apostatize from Islam, or oppose his parents, or oppose someone whom he is obliged to obey, or abandon prayer.
