Hell (Jahannam) جهنم

Whoever sees in a dream that he entered Hell commits major sins. If he came out of it without harm, he will fall into worldly worries.

(Whoever sees) the Fire drawing near will fall into hardship and an ordeal from the ruler from which he will not escape, and he will be struck by a penalty and grievous loss. It is a warning to him to repent and turn back from what he is engaged in. If he entered it, he is committing major sins and the indecencies for which God Most High has prescribed a legal punishment, and he is forgetting his Lord. If he entered it and drew a sword, he speaks indecency and evil.

(If he sees) that he entered it smiling, he is being wicked and disobeying God Most High while rejoicing in the comforts of this world.

(If he sees) that he remains imprisoned in Hell without knowing when he entered, he will remain poor and grieving in this world, and he does not pray, does not fast and does not remember God Most High.

(If he sees) that he is walking over live coals, he deliberately steps over people's necks (pushing ahead of them in the mosque).

(If he sees) that he tasted of the Zaqqum tree of Hell, its scalding water or its pus, or that he was struck by its heat, he will earn sin, shed blood, and his affairs will become hard for him.

(Whoever sees) that he is black-faced and blue-eyed in Hell will keep company with an enemy of God Most High and approve of his hateful crime, so he will be humiliated, his face will be blackened (disgraced) before people, and God Most High will punish him in the Hereafter for his wrongdoing.

(Whoever sees) Hell plainly in his dream, let him beware of a ruler or of the wrath of the Most Merciful.

(Whoever sees) that he entered Hell will be exposed for every sin he has not repented of.

(If he sees) that he came out of Hell, he will repent of his sins. If he drank of its drink or ate of its food, he will continue to commit sins, or he will seek knowledge that will become a burden against him. Hell in a dream indicates, for the one who enters it, the loss of position in this world. It may signify poverty after wealth, loneliness after companionship, falling into hardships, lasting imprisonment and disgrace in this world. Entering the Fire may signify becoming a beggar after being rich. It signifies a house of innovation and of the wicked, churches and synagogues, fire temples, the bathhouse, the tannery, the slaughterhouse, the oven, and any place where fire is kindled for a useful purpose. Entering it signifies satisfying one's lusts. If he entered Laza (one of the levels of Hell), he is one of those who amassed wealth and hoarded it, and likewise al-Hutama. Al-Hutama may also be for one who slanders, backbites and amasses wealth. Jahannam is for unbelievers and hypocrites. Saqar signifies abandoning truthfulness, indulging in what does not concern one, stinginess, and denying the Day of Judgment. Al-Sa'ir is for devils and for whoever adopts their character. Al-Hawiya indicates cheating in measure and weight, or is for one whose scales are light and who has not made them heavy with righteous deeds. Al-Jahim is for whoever transgressed and preferred the life of this world. The lowest depth is for the people of hypocrisy. If he ate of its Zaqqum, drank of its ghislin (the foul discharge of the damned), was stung by its scorpions, bitten by its snakes, had his skin replaced with the skins of its inhabitants, was dragged on his face, was hurled headlong from a steep climb, was beaten with its iron hooked rods, or was rebuked by its guardian angels, all of that and the like is evidence of innovations in religion, partnership with wrongdoers, holding to the ways of unbelievers, adopting the character of idolaters and mockers, opposing the prophets, shunning the God-fearing, apostasy from religion, withholding God's wealth from those who deserve it, disobedience to the Lord of the worlds, or denying His lordship and His power and likening Him to His creation — glorified and exalted is He. Seeing Malik, the keeper of the Fire, indicates — for one who takes on his likeness or whom he feeds something good — love for God Most High, His Messenger and the believers, honor and authority, distance from hypocrisy, giving up sins and (following right) desire after misguidance, and zeal for religion.

(If he sees) the keeper (peace be upon him) coming toward him, it signifies his safety and security from his Fire.

(If he sees him) turning away from him, or changed toward him in his face or bearing, it signifies falling into what makes his Fire due. The keepers of Hell are trustees, guards, soldiers, assistants, police officers, and family and relatives of the one whom Malik signifies.

(Whoever sees) that Malik seized him by the forelock and threw him into the Fire, his dream brings him humiliation.

(If he sees) that he entered the Fire and came out of it, he will enter Paradise, God willing, or he will commit a sin and repent of it.

(If he sees) his limbs speaking to him, it is a sign of being restrained from sins and becoming alert to the matter of the Hereafter.
