Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Fetter (shackle) قيد

In a dream it is steadfastness in religion. It may signify dependants, or a debt binding upon him, or refraining from travel, or illness. The fetter signifies kindness from the one who fettered him in the dream. A fetter of silver is the firm settling of a marriage matter. If it is of brass, it is persistence in something disliked; if of lead, persistence in something involving weakness and feebleness; if of rope, steadfastness in religion; if of wood, persistence in hypocrisy; if of cloth or thread, his remaining in the matter will not last. If the fettered person is a man of religion or of a mosque, it signifies his firmness in his authority and his office; if he is of the people of the world, it is continuance in its comfort and splendor. For one who intends to travel, the fetter is an obstacle to his journey; for the merchant, goods that do not sell; for the worried, the continuance of his worry; and for the sick, the prolonging of his illness.

Whoever sees that he is fettered in the way of God is diligent in the affairs of his dependants and remains with them.

Whoever sees that he is fettered in a town or village will settle there. If he sees that he is fettered in a house, he is afflicted with a woman; if the fetter is tight, matters will be tight for him. For the happy person, the fetter is the continuance of his happiness. If the fettered person sees that another fetter was added to him: if he is sick he will die, and if he is in prison his imprisonment will be prolonged.

Whoever sees that he is fettered while wearing green clothes, his remaining is in a matter of religion and the earning of a reward of great worth; if they are white, his remaining is in a matter of knowledge, jurisprudence, splendor and beauty; if red, his remaining is in a matter of amusement and merriment; if yellow, his remaining is in illness.

Whoever sees that he is fettered with a fetter of gold [dhahab] awaits money that has gone [dhahaba] from him. If he sees that he is fettered in a palace of glass, he will keep company with a noble, eminent woman, but her companionship with him will not last.

Whoever sees that he is bound together with another man in one fetter, it signifies his committing a great sin for which it is feared the ruler will take vengeance on him, because of His saying, the Exalted:

وَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ

“And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in irons,”

Quran 14:49 · Saheeh International
