Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Hanging lamp (lantern) قنديل

In a dream it is a child, or a spouse if it has a spout; and if it is solid without an opening in it, it is a wife or husband with no child between them. The hanging lamp indicates knowledge, repentance for the sinner and guidance for the unbeliever. It may be an interpreter of dreams or the guide of a caravan, because both are things by which one is guided in darkness. The hanging lamp is a child with splendor, elevation, renown, fame and benefit, if it is lit at its proper time. If it is lit, it is the head of a household or a scholar. It is also said that the lamps in mosques are wealthy scholars and people of piety and Quran recitation.

(Whoever sees) that the mosque lamp has gone out, the mosque's scholar will die. The hanging lamp is a woman and the wick is children, and the lamp is of no use without its wick. Lamps are also interpreted as stars. The breaking or extinguishing of lamps is the death of a sick person. If a person took stars from the sky, he will take lamps from the mosque.
