Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Vulture (great eagle, nasr) نسر

In a dream it is the king of birds, the highest-flying of them and the longest-lived.

(Whoever sees) a vulture contending with him, a ruler will become angry with him and set an unjust man over him, because Solomon, peace be upon him, set the vulture over the birds and they feared it.

(Whoever sees) that he owns an obedient vulture will obtain a great kingdom, honor and glory, and will gain power over a king or a great ruler. Whoever owns a vulture and flies on it without fear, his affair will rise and he will become a great tyrant. Whoever obtains a vulture chick, a son will be born to him who will be great.

(Whoever sees) that in the daytime will fall ill; and if it scratches him, his illness will be prolonged. A slaughtered vulture indicates the death of one of the kings. When a pregnant woman sees the vulture, she will see the midwife and the wet nurse. The vulture is interpreted as the greatest of kings, and it is interpreted as the prophets and the righteous.

(Whoever sees) the vulture and hears its voice will quarrel with someone. Whoever eats some vulture meat, or takes some of its feathers or bones, will obtain wealth from a ruler.

(Whoever sees) a vulture carry him and fly with him: if it flew with him horizontally, he will make a journey with authority and elevation; and if it flew with him upward toward the sky, he will die on his journey. The vulture indicates long life, abundant wealth and war. Seeing it may indicate heretical innovation and straying from guidance, because of His saying, Exalted is He:

وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا ۝ وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًا

“And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwāʿ or Yaghūth and Yaʿūq and Nasr.' And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."”

Quran 71:23–24 · Saheeh International

(Nasr being the name of an idol). The vulture may indicate protective jealousy over one's family.

(Whoever sees) that a vulture swooped down with him from the sky to the earth, his affair will not be completed for him, and his authority and kingdom will leave him.
