In a dream it is a man's religion, his living, his piety, his knowledge, or glad tidings, based on the words of God Most High:
“Take this, my shirt, and cast it over the face of my father; he will become seeing. And bring me your family, all together."”
Quran 12:93 · Saheeh International
If a man puts it on, it is a woman he will marry, and for a woman, a man she will marry, based on the words of God Most High:
“It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are a clothing for you and you are a clothing for them. Allāh knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allāh has decreed for you [i.e., offspring]. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the night [i.e., sunset]. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allāh, so do not approach them. Thus does Allāh make clear His verses [i.e., ordinances] to the people that they may become righteous.”
Quran 2:187 · Saheeh International
If a man puts on the shirt and it tears, he will become independent of his wife; if it comes apart at the seams, he will part from his wife or his partner. The shirt is a man's state in his religion and his worldly life.
(Whoever sees) that he put on a shirt without sleeves, it is the beauty of his religion without wealth, because wealth is "what the hand holds," and he has nothing in hand — the sleeve.
(Whoever sees) that the collar opening of his shirt was torn, a door of poverty will open upon him.
(Whoever sees) that he has many shirts has a great reward and many good deeds in the Hereafter. A white shirt is religion.
(Whoever sees) that a shirt was given to him as a gift, it is good news.
(Whoever sees) that his shirt is torn and dirty, it is poverty, worry and hardship that will befall him. If a woman sees that she put on a new, roomy, full-length shirt, it is the good state of her religion and her worldly life, or the good state of her husband. Wearing a shirt is the state of the one wearing it, and likewise its collar opening; their soundness and corruption relate to the state of the one wearing them. A green shirt signifies religion, and a white one likewise; blue is not praised. A red shirt signifies fame, and yellow signifies illness. Wetness in a garment signifies an obstacle to a journey; if the wetness dried, the obstacle will go.
(Whoever sees) that he put on a shirt with no collar opening, no neckband and no tie at its neck, it signifies his death.
(Whoever, woman or man, sees) that he put on a shirt and a mantle will go on pilgrimage or travel.
(Whoever sees) that he put on a shirt of wood will travel by sea and board a ship; if he is sick, death is feared for him.
(Whoever sees) a verse of the Quran written on his shirt holds fast to the Quran. A shirt dyed black signifies worry and sorrow for the one who wears it.
The shirt may be a man's house, because it covers a person as his shirt covers him, and it has four corners, as does a house.
(Whoever sees) that the collar opening of his shirt was torn, a door of poverty will open upon him.
(Whoever sees) his shirt split lengthwise, he will be relieved; if it is split widthwise, that is talk said against his honor.
(Whoever sees) his shirt torn from behind will be accused through talk said against his honor while he is innocent of it; and if it is torn from the front, the talk said about him is true, because of the story of Joseph (peace be upon him).
(Whoever sees) his shirt is made of clouds, blessing will envelop him. Seeing the shirt of Joseph (peace be upon him) is a messenger with news heading from Egypt.
