Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Latrine (toilet) مرحاض

In a dream it indicates the relief of his household and their hardship, their striving and their frugality. It may indicate the wife with whom he is alone, or the slave girl who knows the secrets and private matters, or the storage pit in which he stores his money [the text reads ‘rain’, likely a misprint for matmar, storage pit], or the treasury of his secrets, or his shop where his money is. It is the house of relief, the house of reflection, of purification and of privacy. If it overflows in a dream, it indicates the wife's pregnancy or the acquiring of a servant; it may indicate abundant wealth, or a cost to them because of their need to have it emptied. If he is soiled with what is in it and it has no smell, it indicates good appearing upon him, though his aim may become difficult for him. If he eats from it, he may take back what he gave as a gift or charity, or return to his sinfulness or to eating what is unlawful; his ruling is that of one who eats what he has vomited. He (peace be upon him) said: “One who takes back his gift is like one who returns to his vomit.” Vomit is unlawful money. It may indicate the woman: if it is spacious, clean and without noticeable smell, his wife is good company; its cleanliness is her righteousness, its spaciousness her obedience, and the slightness of its stench the good things said of her. If it is narrow and full of excrement so that its owner finds no place in it to squat, she will be rebellious toward him. If its smell is foul, she will be sharp-tongued and he will be notorious because of her. The depth of its pit is her diligence in managing her affairs. If he looks into it and sees blood in it, he is going to his wife while she is menstruating. If he sees its pit filled up, that is her careful management and her preventing the man from spending much for fear of extravagance. If he sees his hand on a piece of wood with which he stirs the pit, there is a divorced woman in his house. If the pit is full but he does not fear it overflowing, his wife is pregnant.

(Whoever sees) that he was put in a privy will be plotted against. If its door is shut on him, he will die. The privy [kanif] was mentioned earlier under the letter Kaf.
