Gray hair (white hair of age) شيب

In a dream it is dignity for the young. It is also said that it signifies a long life, and it is also said that it signifies weakness. It signifies poverty if it is in both the beard and the head. Whoever sees gray in his beard without its whiteness being complete, that is better for strength and dignity. Whoever's head turns gray while he has a pregnant wife will receive a male child. Whoever plucks or cuts gray hairs from the beard will (be one who) honors elders. If a woman sees gray hair on her head, her husband is a sinful man; and if he is not sinful, he will make her jealous with a slave girl or another wife. It is also said that graying of the head is the arrival of an absent person or of a guest. Graying of the body hair, for the rich, signifies financial loss, and for the poor, a debt that cannot be repaid. The graying of an unknown woman is the drying up of crops. The graying of an entire army is flight and weakness. The graying of a sick person is his death and his shroud, especially if the hair of his body turns gray. Gray hair for one who is afraid is safety from a judge or a king. It is also said that a woman's gray hair is ugly words she hears from her husband's relatives, and it may signify divorce, because men dislike gray hair in a woman. If someone who is already gray sees that his grayness has increased beyond its state while there is still some black in it, that is dignity upon dignity; but if nothing of the black remains, he will experience from his chief, or from someone above him, what he dislikes. If someone whose beard is black sees that it has turned white, his religion has perished, or his wealth will go. If someone whose beard is black sees in it from one to three white hairs that have appeared in his beard, a male child will be born to him; or if he has someone absent whom he is devoted to and longs for, that person will return.

Whoever sees that the hair of his chest is white, his food will spoil and go rotten.

Whoever sees that his beard is white and shining will attain honor, rank and good renown in the land. Ibn Sirin (may God the Exalted have mercy on him) disliked gray hair for one who had not (yet) gone gray, and said that gray hair is a decrease in wealth, especially if the hair is long. If a poor man sees that, there will gather upon him, along with his poverty, a great debt, worry and imprisonment. If he sees that he plucked a gray hair from his hair, he is going against the Sunna and does not honor elders. Gray hair in the beard may signify arrowheads that wound bodies painfully, and distance and estrangement.
