Whoever sees that he is composing poetry and seeking to earn by it will bear false witness. If he sees that he recited an ode in a gathering, it is wisdom that leans toward hypocrisy. If he hears poetry, he will attend gatherings in which the truth is not spoken. Poetry in a dream is vain talk. Whoever hears poetry in his dream and memorizes it should take (the interpretation) from its meaning. If the poetry is wisdom or remembrance of God the Exalted, it is good. Composing poetry in a dream or memorizing it may signify loss of position and a decrease in religion. Seeing poetry may signify a fine craft, and it signifies worry, trouble, and attacks on one's honor by enemies. If it is praise, he will become poor if he was rich. If the poetry is metrically faulty, ungrammatical or short in its meter, it may signify that he will be a babbler in speech who does not pause over what he says or does, or that he will be overtaken by obsessive whisperings.
