Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Gourd (squash) قرع

In a dream it is a learned man, or a physician, high-ranking and important, close to people and of light burden. For the sick it is healing, and it is the best of cooked dishes in dreams. Whoever eats it cooked, something he lost will come back to him, whether of his religion, his own self, his beloved or his child. Whoever eats gourd raw will be struck by fright from the jinn or will quarrel with someone. Whoever shades himself in its shade will find comfort from his loneliness. It is also said that the gourd plant is a poor man with no money. Whoever picks a gourd from a melon patch will be saved from illness, because of the story of Jonah, peace be upon him. Gourd [qar'] is reproach [taqri'] and blame. Whoever eats cooked gourd will memorize knowledge in proportion to how much he ate of it, or will gather something scattered. Seeing the gourd signifies worry, trouble and hardship in living, or illness or imprisonment. Eating it may signify soundness of mind and intelligence. Gourd vessels signify beautiful, distinguished women, of great benefit and pure of heart.

Whoever sees that he ate gourd raw, it signifies dispute and evil. If he eats it cooked: if there are spices with it, it signifies worry and sorrow; if it is without spices, it is provision, and perhaps he will find something lost.
