Whoever sees them in his dream with good attributes, it is a sign of his sound belief concerning them and his following of their practice. Seeing them may indicate the movements of troops and the dispatching of expeditions. It may indicate the spread of knowledge, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and it [also] indicates evil [the text here reads "and it indicates evil," apparently a copying slip]. Seeing them indicates harmony, love, brotherhood, mutual support and assistance, safety from enmity and envy, the removal of rancor from hearts, and affection, because they, God be pleased with them, were like that. If the dreamer is poor, he will become rich, because they, God be pleased with them, made conquests and took spoils; and if the dreamer is rich, he will prefer the hereafter to this world and spend himself and his wealth in seeking the pleasure of God the Exalted. For one they turn toward in the dream, seeing them, God be pleased with them, indicates noble buildings such as congregational mosques and mosques, and purity of lineage, tribes and clans. Their turning away from the dreamer or insulting him in the dream indicates his falling into [disputing] the conflicts that arose between them, preferring some of them over others, and his hating them. Seeing them indicates repentance and abandoning everything other than God the Exalted. Seeing the Companions, God be pleased with them, indicates good and blessing according to their ranks and stations as known from their lives and ways. Seeing each one of them may indicate what befell him and what took place in his days of strife or justice. Whoever sees that he is gathered [on the Day of Resurrection] with the Companions of the Messenger of God, God bless him and grant him peace, is one who seeks uprightness in religion.
Whoever sees one of the Companions, let it be interpreted for him by the derivation of the name, such as Sa'd and Sa'id [both from the root meaning "happiness"], for he will be happy and well-guided; and he may have a share of that Companion's conduct and deeds.
Whoever sees one of them alive, or all of them alive, his dream indicates the strength of the religion and its people, and indicates that the dreamer will attain might and honor and his standing will rise. If he sees as if he became one of them, hardships will befall him and then he will be granted victory. If he sees them in his dream repeatedly, his livelihood will become straitened. As for the Ansar (the Helpers of Medina), the sons of the Ansar and the grandsons of the Ansar, seeing them in a dream indicates repentance and forgiveness. Seeing the Muhajirun (the Emigrants) indicates good certainty and trust in God the Exalted, leaving behind this world and renouncing it, and truthfulness in word and deed.
Seeing Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, God be pleased with him, indicates the caliphate and leadership, precedence over one's peers, and an abundant share of favor with people of high standing. Seeing him may indicate spending in the way of God the Exalted with one's wealth and children, and faithfulness in friendship. Seeing him indicates freeing a slave, attaining martyrdom, truthfulness in speech, old age, sound judgment, good fortune with slaves, and the interpretation of dreams. It indicates misery on account of one of his children, sons or daughters; and fear, going into hiding, deliverance from hardships, fighting in the way of God, the Hajj, victory over enemies, and knowledge.
Whoever sees Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, God be pleased with him, alive will be blessed with gentleness and compassion toward the servants of God the Exalted.
Whoever sees that he is sitting with Abu Bakr, God be pleased with him, will follow the truth, take the Sunna as his model, and give sincere counsel to the community of Muhammad, God bless him and grant him peace.
