Whip سوط

In a dream it signifies the fulfillment of needs, the obtaining of what one asks for, and the humbling of an enemy; and it signifies a child or a helpful companion. If a whip comes down from the sky, it signifies [God's] wrath and punishment. The whip is authority: whoever sees in his hand a whip bound with shagreen leather (kimukht) will take charge of an authority that has splendor; and if it is not bound, it is an office and a post in collecting the alms-taxes. If the whip breaks while striking, his authority will go; and if it splits, his authority will be doubled. If he sees that he struck his donkey with his whip, he will pray to God the Exalted about his livelihood; and if he struck with it a horse he was riding, wanting it to gallop, he will pray to God the Exalted about a matter in which there is difficulty. If he sees that he found a whip, he will seek the help of a non-Arab man connected to the ruler, whose word is accepted and whose command is carried out. If he sees that he is striking with it a man who is free, not restrained and without his hands stretched out [for flogging], he will admonish him; if it hurts him and he trembles, the admonition will take effect in him and he will be deterred and repent; and if it does not hurt him, he will not accept the admonition. If blood flows from him during the beating, it is injustice; and if it does not flow, it is just. If he strikes and the man's skin splits from the beating, it will be doubled against him, two for one, in whatever is attributed to him. If the blood reaches the striker, he will obtain unlawful money from the one struck; likewise, if the blood reaches the one struck, it is a bribe [paid] by him. If the whip bends while striking, the mind [of the striker] is crooked, or the man whose help he seeks is reckless.

Whoever sees that the ruler struck him with his whip a hundred times, or fewer or more, they are dirhams in the number of the lashes.
