Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Lamp (oil lamp) سراج

In a dream, for a pregnant woman it indicates a learned male child. For a sick man, the lamp is his wife: if it goes out, the sick man will die. Whoever fixes a lamp so that it shines, and has a sick person, that person will return to health. A small lamp whose light is weak is, for a pregnant woman, a girl. It is also said that the lamp indicates the appearance of hidden things.

(Whoever sees) the lamp of his house shining, strong and sound, it is the soundness of the head of the household; and if he sees it weak, the head of the household's condition is weak.

(Whoever sees) that his lamp went out, that is the confusion of the household head's affairs, his bad condition, the cutting off of his remembrance, and the difficulty of his affairs. It may indicate his death, or the death of his child or of the one in charge of him, if there is something in his dream that indicates that; and it may be the death of his wife.

(Whoever sees) that he has a lamp in his hand and fears its light going out, it is a sign of the death of the sick person. If a sick person sees that he is ascending to the sky with a lamp, (looking) toward the earth, that is his soul ascending to it.

(Whoever sees) that he lit (something) from a lamp will obtain knowledge and elevation. If he sees that he is blowing out a lamp with his mouth, he will try to undo the affair of a man who is in the right, but he will not undo it.

(Whoever sees) that he is walking in the daytime with a lamp is firm in religion and upright in his way. If he sees that he is walking at night with a lamp, he will pray at night if he is one of its people; otherwise he will be guided in a matter about which he is perplexed; or he may be in a sin and repent of it. If he sees a lamp shining out from between his fingers or from among his limbs, an obscure matter will become clear to him and he will master it with clear proof. Whoever has in his hand an extinguished lamp, candle or fire: if he is a ruler, he will be dismissed; if a merchant, he will lose; and if a righteous man, his wealth will go. A lamp whose fuel does not give light indicates grief.
