Seeing it in a dream signifies a messenger and correspondence, as well as strength and victory over enemies. A single arrow placed upside down, if a woman sees it in the quiver, is her husband turning away from her. The arrow is guidance [or: a sign].
Whoever sees an arrow in his hand will obtain an office of authority, honor and wealth. The breaking of an arrow shot from the bow is the messenger's inability to deliver the message. For a woman, the arrow is her husband. Shooting arrows is words in letters.
Whoever sees that he shot an arrow and did not hit the target will send a messenger on an errand and it will not be accomplished. If he sees that a woman or a slave-girl shot him with an arrow and it struck his heart, she will flirt and jest with him and he will become attached to her. If he sees arrows flying sideways (ma'arid), they are messengers who have gentleness and softness in their speech [ma'arid also means "indirect, allusive speech"].
Whoever sees that he shot an arrow and hit the mark: if he hopes for a child, it will be a boy. The weaver's shuttle (sahm al-minsaj) is a messenger, or provision, or a circumcised son, or long life, or clothing.
