In a dream it indicates a capable servant and one who undertakes to benefit his household, such as one's companion or slave. Its sharpness is a sign of the effectiveness of his commands and prohibitions, or of the activity of the one it signifies. If a woman sees that she has a knife with her, or that she gave a knife to one of the women, it signifies her love for a famous man. A pen-knife is a scribe; a slaughterer's knife is a butcher; and a soldier's knife is strength and service.
(Whoever sees) that he stole the knife of a children's tutor will become infatuated with one of his boys. A table knife, for one who wants to use it, is a clever servant boy who is tricked in work; if he used it, it is the ending of the matter he is engaged in, or his unemployment. A knife is an argument (proof).
(Whoever sees) a knife will obtain strength and money through a servant.
(Whoever sees) that he swallowed a knife has consumed some of his son's money. A knife in a dream is a male child for one whose wife is pregnant.
(Whoever sees) a knife in his hand will obtain two hundred dirhams, because its hilt (nisab) is a nisab (minimum taxable amount) of money. For a poor person, a knife may be interpreted as twenty-five dirhams.
(It is also said that whoever sees) a knife in his hand while he is in a lawsuit will win, and an argument and proof will be established for him, because it is a weapon and protects him from enemies.
(Whoever sees) that he was given a knife with no other weapon besides it will have a child and a brother; and if he is not expecting a child or a brother, he will gain good and receive provision.
(Whoever sees) that he slaughtered with the knife, interpret it by what the knife slaughtered — bird, animal or otherwise — and the knife is not considered.
(Whoever sees) that he slit his hands with the knife will see something that amazes him.
(Whoever sees) that he is putting a knife or dagger into its hilt will marry a woman. Whoever gains a knife in his dream will gain a wife if he is unmarried; if he has a pregnant wife, her child will be safe — if there is something with it supporting maleness, it is a boy; otherwise it is a girl; and likewise the spear. If there is no pregnancy in his household and he is seeking a witness for a right, he will find him: if the knife is sharp, the witness will be upright; if it is not sharp or is notched, his witness will be discredited; if it is sheathed, he will be humiliated, or his testimony will be rejected because of incidents that appear from him outside of testimony. If none of that applies, it is a worldly benefit that he will obtain, or a gift by which he is favored, or a brother or friend who befriends him, or a servant who serves him, or a slave he will own, according to people's stations.
