In a dream, bathing with pure water, whether from major ritual impurity (janāba) or generally, signifies repentance from sins and fulfilling one's duty of kindness to parents or companions. If he did that in winter and bathed with cold water, it may signify worries, troubles and illnesses. If he bathed with hot water in wintertime, it signifies profits, gains and recovery from illness. Whoever bathes for one of the festivals (Eid): if he is single, he will marry. If he bathes for the solar or lunar eclipse prayer, perhaps he will face a terrifying matter, or trouble will strike him from the one the sun or moon represents; likewise the bath for the rain prayer. The bath taken after washing a corpse is quitting the company of heedless people. If the one who bathed in the dream is an unbeliever, he will embrace Islam; or if insane, he will recover his senses. If he bathed in the dream for entering the state of pilgrim sanctity (iḥrām) or for entering Mecca, it signifies joy, happiness, reunion with absent ones and settling of debt; likewise if he bathed in the dream for the stoning of the pillars or for circumambulation. The bath for stoning may signify victory over enemies, and the bath for circumambulation is striving to seek livelihood or to serve great men such as kings and those below them, and attending (going around) to the wife or the parents.
Whoever sees that he bathed and put on new clothes: if he is sick, God the Exalted will heal him; if he is in debt, God will settle his debt; whoever is imprisoned will be released from his prison; if he is worried, God will relieve his worry; if he has not performed the pilgrimage, he will be granted the pilgrimage; if he is poor, God the Exalted will enrich him; if he is a merchant or tradesman whose trade, market and earning have become difficult, God the Exalted will improve his trade and market, restore his fortune and remove his worries; if he has been dismissed from office, God the Exalted will renew his authority, because of His saying, the Exalted:
ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ
“[So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for a] cool bath and drink."”

For when Job (peace be upon him) bathed and put on new clothes, God the Exalted restored to him his family, his children and everything that had gone from him. If he sees that he bathed and did not dress, his worry will go away and his body will be healthy. If he put on worn-out clothes, his worry will go away but he will become poor. If his bath is complete, his affair will be completed; whoever does not complete it, the affair he wants will not be completed.
Whoever sees that he goes down into a basin, a large jar or the like to bathe: if he is single, he will marry a woman.
Whoever sees that he is bathing or performing ablution in an underground channel will recover something that had been stolen from him.
Whoever sees that he bathed with hot water will be struck by worry in proportion to the heat of the water. Drinking hot water is not praiseworthy, because of His saying, the Exalted:
“Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord... [Are its inhabitants] like those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?”

It is also said that bathing is marriage, and if an unknown woman bathes, it is rain coming down from the sky. As for washing the hands with ushnān (an alkaline plant used as soap):
Whoever sees that he did that while there was affection or a dispute between him and someone, that state between them will end, and he will be saved from fear. If he was hoping for something from a person, he will despair of him. If he has committed sins, it is his repentance from them. It is also said that washing with ushnān, soap and the like is settling a debt and the removal of worry and trouble. Whoever washes his hands of something despairs of it. Washing a garment signifies the soundness of one's religion.
Whoever sees that he washed a yellow garment and cleaned it of its yellowness will recover from illness. It is also said that washing clothes signifies paying off debt, and it is also said the coming to light of hidden things. Washing a dead person signifies in a dream the settling of his debt. A dead person washing himself is his descendants' release from worries and their passing on to every good and an increase in wealth and sons. If a person washes him, a man corrupt in religion will appear and repent at his hands.
Whoever sees a dead person asking someone to wash his clothes, that is his need for the prayers of the one who saw him, or for charity, the settling of a debt, the carrying out of a bequest, seeking pardon for a wrong done, or something for which he is being held to account. If a person washes them, his release there will come about at that person's hands.
