Pigeons (doves) حمام

In a dream it is a trustworthy messenger, a truthful friend and a companionable beloved. It may indicate chaste wives who keep secrets and toil for the family. It may indicate the 'himam', which is death. It indicates a woman with dependents and children, or a man with many offspring who devotes himself to his household. Seeing pigeons indicates wailing and the recounting of the virtues of the dead. The domestic dove is a beautiful Arab woman; its eggs are daughters or slave girls; its dovecote is a gathering of women; and its chicks are sons.

If he scatters feed for the pigeons and calls them to him, he is a man who procures (women). The cooing of the dove is a man reproaching a woman. White ones are religion, green ones piety, black ones the masters among men and women, and piebald ones people of mixed conduct. If his dove flies off and does not return to him, he will divorce his wife or she will die. If they have flying doves, he has women and slave girls on whom he does not spend. If he clips a dove's wing, he will swear an oath against his wife that she will not leave his house, or a child will be born to him from his wife and she will conceive. The dove is an Arab slave girl. It is reported from Ibn Sirin, may God Almighty have mercy on him, that it is news that comes from afar. The dove is a beloved woman, free or slave. A flock of pigeons is leadership that the one who sees it will obtain if he owns it.

A single dove is a child from a slave girl.

(Whoever sees) that he ate of its meat will consume the wealth of servants and will be a broker. Doves with their chicks are captives with their children.

(Whoever sees) that he hunted doves will obtain wealth from noble men.

(It is also said: whoever sees) pigeons will not ask God Almighty for anything without His granting it. If he sees a dove in his house and the dreamer is unmarried, he will marry a beautiful, loving, affectionate woman, and the lady of the house will be in harmony with her husband. If he sees that a dove leapt upon him or flew off with him, he will obtain joy, gladness, good and blessings.

(Whoever sees) that he became a dove will consume the wealth of his enemies. The dove indicates unexpected news and the letter, because it carries news in letters. It is good news for one in hardship, or one who has an absent person, if it lands on him or comes flying to him; unless he has a sick person, in which case it is the fate (himam) of death, especially if it is a wood pigeon and it moans at his head in the dream. The dove may be a daughter. The best pigeons are the green ones.

(Whoever sees) a defect in a dove's eye, it is a defect in his wife's religion and character.

(Whoever sees) that he obtained some of its eggs will obtain from women wealth and female children.

(Whoever sees) that he is hunting domestic pigeons will obtain from women what is unlawful.

(Whoever sees) that he is feeding a dove or another bird from his beak will teach a woman words and instruct her in them.

(Whoever sees) a dove or another bird above his head, on his shoulder or tied to his neck, it indicates his deeds between him and his Creator: if the bird is black and ugly, it is a sign of the ugliness of his deeds and the corruption of his religion; and if it is white and beautiful, it is a sign of the goodness of his deeds and the soundness of his religion.

(Whoever sees) that he obtained some pigeon feathers or meat will obtain dirhams and much good.
