Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Needle إبرة

In a dream it indicates marriage for the unmarried and the covering-up of his condition [i.e. keeping up appearances] for the poor.

Whoever sees that he obtained a needle, the needle is, for its owner, a means to what he seeks of setting his affairs right, gathering them or bringing them together, and the like. If there is thread in it and he is sewing with it, his affairs will come together and whatever was scattered of his business will be gathered for him.

Whoever sees that the needle he sews with broke, or its eye split, or it was taken from him, his affairs will be scattered and his business will go bad.

Whoever sees that it was lost or stolen from him will be robbed accordingly, and then his affairs will neither be completed nor scattered. The needle also indicates a woman, because the thread is put into it; likewise the large packing-needle. Whoever sees that he has a packing-needle in his hand: if he has a pregnant wife, she will bear him a daughter; and if there is no pregnancy, it is a journey for him. In a dream the needle is a man who brings people together and a woman who brings people together. If he sees that he is eating a needle, he will disclose his secret to someone who will harm him.

Whoever sees that he stuck a needle into a person will slander him, and someone stronger than him will speak ill of him. The needle is a means of setting matters right, and likewise if there are two, three or four: whichever of them has thread, the fulfillment of its owner's affairs coming together is nearer, and the extent of that is according to how much he has sewn. A few needles that are used for sewing are better than many that are not used, and quicker to come true. If he sews clothes for people with it, he gives them sincere advice and works to reconcile between them, because in the language of the Arabs the nāsih ("sincere adviser") is the tailor, the minsaha is the needle and the nāsih is the thread. If he sews his own clothes, he will become rich if he was poor, his scattered affairs will be gathered, and his condition will be put right if it was corrupt. If he mends torn pieces with it, he will repent of backbiting or seek forgiveness for a sin, if he mends it soundly and expertly; [and if not, it is] making a false excuse, repenting of the consequence without seeking release from the one who was wronged. Hence the proverb: "Whoever backbites has torn; whoever repents has mended."
