Mosque مسجد

In a dream, a mosque is a learned man, and its doors are learned men and the guardians of the mosque.

Whoever sees that he is building a mosque, it indicates good, following the Prophet’s way (Sunnah), maintaining family ties, and appointment to a judgeship if he is qualified for it.

Whoever sees one of the mosques flourishing, solidly built and congregational, it is a learned man or preacher around whom people gather and whom he unites in righteousness and good. If he sees that a mosque collapsed, a leading scholar of religion and devotion will die there. If the roof of the mosque is diminished, he will do a deed. If he sees that an unknown man prayed in the mosque and the imam of the mosque is ill, the imam will die. If he enters a mosque with some people and they dig a pit for him, he will marry. If he sees that his house turned into a mosque, he will gain piety, devotion and honor; he will have a right over the Muslims, call them to the truth and scatter the people of falsehood. If he sees a mosque turned into a bathhouse, a man of good reputation will become corrupt. A mosque also indicates the market and trade. A high mosque that is reached by stairs is a man who is stingy with what he has; if it is low, it indicates the easing of affairs and the fulfillment of needs by the person it represents. If a town mosque moves to the countryside, it indicates the neglect of its endowments and the breaking up of its congregation, or a change in the condition of its endowment — and the ruling for the congregational (Friday) mosque is the same — and the reverse if a country mosque comes into the town. Whoever builds a mosque, a place of drawing near to God the Exalted: if he is a king, he will establish justice, command what is right and forbid what is wrong; if he is a scholar, he will write a book and people will benefit from his knowledge or his legal opinions; if he is wealthy, he will pay the zakat on his wealth; if he is unmarried, he will marry; if he is married, he will be granted a child and a good reputation will spread about him; if he is poor, he will become rich; otherwise he will serve that place and keep it alive with the remembrance of God the Exalted and by attending to its needs; otherwise he will bring people together in good and help them obey God the Exalted; otherwise he will become a broker, or repent to God the Exalted of what he is committing, or be guided to Islam, or die a martyr, or that will be his palace in Paradise — this if he built the mosque with what it should be built with. If he built it with what is not permissible to build with, or the prayer niche (mihrab) is crooked, or he turned it away from its proper direction, it indicates the reverse: evil instead of good.

Whoever sees that he is building a mosque or a frontier hostel (ribat) will spend in the cause of religion, or perform the pilgrimage that year, or build something lasting such as a bathhouse, an inn, a shop or the like.

Whoever sees that he is roofing a mosque will support weak orphans. If he enlarges the mosque, he will increase his religion with much good: righteous deeds, repentance, good character, or being fair against his own interests.

Whoever sees that he is in a new mosque he does not know will perform the pilgrimage that year or gain understanding of religion. If a shop turns into a mosque, or a mosque into a shop, it indicates lawful earnings; it may also indicate that he mixes the lawful with the unlawful, or combines free wives with slave women. Abandoned mosques indicate scholars being neglected and the abolition of commanding right and forbidding wrong; they also indicate ascetics who have cut themselves off from worldly people and what they possess. Seeing any particular mosque indicates its region and heading toward it — such as al-Aqsa Mosque, the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca), the Mosque of Damascus, the Mosque of Egypt and the like — and it may indicate the scholars of those regions, or their kings, or their kings’ deputies.

Whoever sees that he entered through the door of the mosque and fell down in prostration will be granted repentance; the Exalted said:

“And [recall] when We said, "Enter this city [i.e., Jerusalem] and eat from it wherever you will in [ease and] abundance, and enter the gate bowing humbly and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens [i.e., sins].' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."”

Quran 2:58 · Saheeh International

Whoever sees that he reached the mosque and found it closed, and then it was opened for him, will help a man with a debt he owes and free him from it, and people will speak well of him.

Whoever sees that he entered the mosque while riding will cut off his relatives and withhold his support from them.

Whoever sees that he dies in the mosque will die in a state of accepted repentance.

Whoever sees that the mosque’s mats are torn and worn out, its people have become corrupt after being righteous. Building a mosque indicates victory over enemies, because of the words of the Exalted:

“And similarly, We caused them to be found that they [who found them] would know that the promise of Allāh is truth and that of the Hour there is no doubt. [That was] when they disputed among themselves about their affair and [then] said, "Construct over them a structure. Their Lord is most knowing about them." Said those who prevailed in the matter, "We will surely take [for ourselves] over them a masjid."”

Quran 18:21 · Saheeh International

Entering the Sacred Mosque in Mecca indicates, for a man seeking marriage, that he will enter his house with a distinguished bride; it also indicates safety from fear and the fulfillment of a promise.
