Locusts جراد

In a dream they are punishment and the soldiers of God the Exalted, because they were among the signs of Moses, peace be upon him.

Whoever sees that locusts landed in a place or flew in the sky, and he was with them, and there was harm from them, it is an evil army that will descend there, or rain. Their hoppers [dabā] are an army of bad manners and ugly conduct, worse than locusts. It is said that locusts [jarad] are the stripping bare [jard] of the land.

If he sees that some of them fell, it is the punishment of God the Exalted. If he sees them in a place where they are eaten or something is taken from them, it is provision granted to the dreamer. If they are poured into a vessel or a pot, they are dinars or dirhams. Every place in which locusts appear without harming it, it is the lifting of worry, good fortune and joy. If locusts of gold rain down on him, then if he has lost money, God the Exalted will compensate him, and if he is worried, he will be relieved. It is said that locusts are a baker who cheats people in food, and it is said that locusts are civil strife or an enemy. In villages and farms, locusts signify hardship, unemployment and destruction, because they settle on the plants and spoil them. As for other people, they signify the wicked agreeing with them, and bad women agreeing with them.

Whoever sees that he took locusts and put them in a jar will obtain dirhams and pass them to a woman. Locusts are an army, mostly a rabble surging into one another. They may signify rain if they fall on roofs or into houses. If they are very numerous, or unlike [ordinary] locusts, and are among people or between earth and sky, they are punishment — unless people are gathering and eating them and they bring no calamity or harm, in which case they are provisions driven to them and livelihood that increases among them. It may come from the direction of the air, like sparrows, sandgrouse, manna, truffles, rain and the like. It is said that their gathering may signify dirhams and dinars. It is said that locusts signify attacking the enemy, advancing on fortresses and plundering wealth with a great army. Locusts may signify lawful provision.

Whoever sees that he is eating locusts will obtain a little good from soldiers.

Whoever sees young locusts, they are the common people and their rabble; they may be rain and camels; locusts may be a company of travelers entering the town where they are seen.

It is said: whoever sees that he took many locusts will talk much in proposing marriage to women.
