A wooden ladder, seen in a dream, means hardship, toil and a cause for travel. The ladder (sullam) may also indicate safety (salama) in one's affairs. Climbing a wooden ladder may be enjoining good upon someone who will not heed it, or forbidding wrong to someone who will not accept it or refrain from it. If the wooden steps have become built masonry, this may indicate steadfastness in one's affairs and the concealment of what one hopes to have kept hidden. The ladder is authority for the one who sees it.
Whoever sees a ladder lying flat will fall ill; if he sees it standing upright, he will recover from illness. The ladder is safety for one who is in grief. The ladder indicates travel, and it is a man of high rank.
Whoever sees that he climbed a new ladder will attain good and elevation in his religion and his worldly life. If he sees that he climbed an old ladder, he will attain good and elevation through trade and the like, and if he is in a dispute with someone, he will prevail over him. If he sees that he fell from an iron ladder, he will suffer a lapse in his religion and turn back from what he had been upon. If he sees that he is coming down an old ladder, he will incur a loss in his trade and make no profit in it. If the ladder breaks while he is on it, his opponent will prevail over him.
Whoever sees that he finds a ladder and climbs down it to his familiar place will be saved from the delusion, fear and ruin he is in. The wooden ladder is a man of high rank who is a hypocrite, and climbing it is the carrying out of an intention. It is also said that climbing it is seeking help from people among whom there is hypocrisy. If he climbs it in order to overhear what someone is saying, he will attain authority. Climbing a ladder indicates leadership, and it may indicate eavesdropping on news from good people and carrying it to wicked people.
