Greeting of peace (salam) سلام التحية

Whoever sees in a dream that he has greeted a man with the greeting of peace, and there is no enmity or dispute between them, the one greeted will receive joy, safety and good from the one who greets him. If there is enmity between them, the one who greets will prevail over the one greeted and be safe from his evil. If the one greeted is an unknown old man, he will be saved from God the Exalted's punishment; if he is a known old man, he will obtain plantings and much fruit. If the one who greets is an unknown young man, he will be safe from his enemy. If the one who greets wants to ask a man for the hand of [a woman in his care], and the man returns his greeting, he will marry him to the one he is asking for; and if he does not return his greeting, he will not marry him to her. If there is trade between them and he greets him and he returns the greeting, that trade will come together between them; and if he does not return it, it will not come together or be completed. If his enemy greets him and has a gift for him with him, his enemy will seek reconciliation with him and pay his debt or pay a penalty. If he sees that he was greeted with an unknown greeting and accepted it, he will be safe, return the greeting and be rewarded for it; and if he neither returned it nor accepted it, he will incur sin and not be rewarded for it.

Whoever sees that he greets a man will meet with grief.

Whoever sees that he shakes hands with someone he is accustomed to, greets him and embraces him, that is good, and signifies kind words that he will hear and speak in kind. If he sees that he shakes hands with and embraces an enemy, that signifies that the enmity will come to an end.

Whoever sees that the angels, peace be upon them, greet him, God will grant him insight and a good outcome. The greeting of peace in a dream signifies submission to the one greeted. The greeting may signify a pressing need [directed] to one whose role is to return the greeting: if someone returns it to him, he will profit in what he seeks; otherwise his merchandise will not sell, or his word will not be accepted among people. If he seeks his need without first greeting anyone, his need will be hard to fulfil. If in the dream he begins speaking to people before greeting them, that signifies departing from the Sunna and inclining toward heretical innovation; likewise if he is greeted in the dream and does not return the greeting, and likewise if he returns it with a gesture. Returning the greeting may signify surrender [istislam, a play on salam].
