Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Innkeeper / Inn (caravanserai) خاني

Seeing him in a dream signifies breaking a covenant and betrayal [khiyana, a play on khani]. Seeing him may signify the death of a sick person, because [the inn] is the home of the stranger. Seeing him signifies rest after toil and companionship after loneliness.

(Inn) Whoever sees in his dream an inn that is let for hire, seeing it signifies temporary marriage [mut'a]. Seeing it may signify whatever is rented, such as a house, an animal, a boat, land or clothing. As for wayside inns, whoever of the sick stays in one in a dream will die; or his worry may pass and he will settle after loneliness with a wife, a slave-woman, an animal to ride, or a found object that helps him in toil and striving. If the dreamer is married, he will be granted a child who helps him in his craft and from whom he gains rest. If he is a sinner, he will repent; or if astray, he will be guided and attain complete faith and guidance. A man's inn is called his funduq, according to what his house signifies: his body, his name, his glory, his bathhouse, his oven and his court of judgment; so whatever happens to it returns to him. As for the unknown [inn], it signifies travel, because it is the lodging of travelers. It may signify this world, because it is a house of travel from which some depart and others arrive. It may signify the cemetery, because it is the lodging of one who has traveled from his home and left his homeland for other lands, and in the time of his exile he departs from it with his companions and fellow travelers. Whoever sees as though he is going from inn to inn and mounted an animal on leaving, or went out with it from its midst: if he is sick, he will be carried out [dead]; if he is on a journey, he will move from it and travel on. Likewise, if he sees a company staying at an unknown inn, mounted, or leaving it likewise, he will be a man of sound opinion among people.
