In a dream it signifies victory [ẓafar, wordplay on ẓufr = nail] over enemies. Long nails, for one who needs them such as a circumciser and the like, may signify ample provision, unlike seeing them clipped. Long nails may signify Rafidism [rejecting the Sunna], because long nails are contrary to the Sunna, and Rafidism is contrary to the Sunna. The nail is a man's strength: whoever sees that his nails have grown long, so long that they are safe from breaking, that is an increase in his strength and wealth, and it will be a weapon against his enemies and a protection for him from them. Whoever's nails disappear, his power disappears. Whoever trims his nails without exceeding the known limit is a man who follows the Sunna. Long nails for people who bear arms are an increase in their weapons and strength, but if they exceed the limit in length it is a disgrace.
(Whoever sees) his nail longer than his enemy's nail will gain victory over him. Whoever's nails fall out will lose his money and be unable to reach his aim. Clipping the nails is following the Sunna, or money going out as a loan; if they are dyed [with henna], the loan is gold. White nails signify memory and understanding. Seeing nails at their proper size is the soundness of religion and worldly life. Fighting with the nails signifies scheming to gather worldly goods. Their length together with their beauty is wealth, splendid clothing, and preparing a weapon against an enemy, and an argument or money by which one guards against their evil. Their length to the point that breaking them is easy signifies someone else taking charge of spoiling a matter in his hand. If he clips them, he will pay his alms of the breaking of the fast (zakāt al-fiṭr).
(Whoever sees) that his nails are diminished, hanging or broken, it is the loss of his money and weakness of his power over his worldly affairs.
(Whoever sees) that his nail became a claw will rise above his adversary or his enemy if he is in a war. If he sees that he is working with his nails, he schemes in his worldly affairs and draws them to himself. If he has no nails, he will go bankrupt and his means will diminish.
