Dust (earth, soil) تراب

In a dream it indicates people, because they were created from it. It may indicate livestock and riding animals. It indicates this world and its people, because it is from the earth and through it the creatures' livelihood is sustained. The Arabs say "atraba the man" when he becomes rich. Dust may indicate poverty, a dead person and the grave.

As for one who shakes dust off his hand, or dust off his garment, or rolls in it on the ground: if he is rich, his wealth will go and need will befall him; if he has a debt or holds a deposit, he will return it to its owners, all of it will leave his hands, and he will be in need afterward; and if he is sick, he will shake his hand free of the earnings of this world, be stripped of his wealth and be joined to the dust. Striking his hand on the dust is a sign of business partnership and earning. Striking it with a strap or a stick indicates a journey with good outcome. Some said that walking in dust is seeking wealth: if he gathers it or eats it, he will gather wealth and wealth will pass through his hands; and if the land belongs to someone else, the wealth [is that person's]. If he carries some dust, he will gain benefit in proportion to what he carried. If he sweeps his house and gathers dust from it, he will use tricks to take money from his wife. If he gathers it from his shop, he will gather wealth from his livelihood.

Whoever sees as if he is swallowing dust, it is wealth he will obtain, because dust is wealth and dirhams. If he sees as if he swept the dust out of a roofed house and took it out, it is the loss of his wife's wealth. If the sky rains dust, it is good as long as it is not overwhelming. Whoever's house collapses and he is covered by its dust and dirt will obtain wealth from an inheritance. If he puts dust on his head, he will obtain wealth along with disgrace and weakness.

Whoever sees as if a person came and is throwing dust on his head and into his eyes, the one who came will spend on the one he threw dust upon, in order to confuse a matter for him and achieve his aim. If he sees as if the sky rained dust, it is punishment. Whoever sweeps his shop and takes out the dust along with goods will move from one place to another. A man walking in dust is his seeking wealth. Whoever throws dust [on himself] will be struck by a worry over which he does not turn to God the Exalted. Dust is a person's lifespan and life. Dust indicates provision, farming, satiety and hunger.

Whoever sees that he sat on good, clean dust, it indicates happiness and victory. It may indicate doubt in religion. It may indicate the man's soil from which he was created, or his soil to which he will return. Dust with a woman in a dream is a doubtful pregnancy. Dust may indicate water, fire or wind, because it is one of the elements. It indicates an arduous journey in which one will need to perform dry ablution. If someone throws dust in his face, he will praise people with his poetry and his aim will be disappointed. Dust may indicate a bad death [a fall into the dust]. Dust may indicate a debt that disgraces the debtor. Dust indicates the speedy fulfillment of a need and the keeping of a promise, because written documents are dusted with it [to dry the ink]. For one who has merchandise, it has become unsaleable [barat], especially if he sees dust with it or on it, because turab [dust] reversed is barat.
