Whoever sees a collar on his neck in a dream is a miser. The collar is a woman's kindness to her husband, a lasting honour, and something of his wealth that comes into her hand. For a woman, the collar is her husband: if it is of silver and is wide and well made, the husband is generous, forbearing and rich; if it is thin, that is his poor condition; if it is of iron, he is strong; and if there is wood in the middle of it, the man is a hypocrite. For a man, the collar is from the sultan: if he is collared along with a white or green robe of honour, it is victory and lordship that he will attain from where he does not know. If he is a merchant, it is profit, good fortune, a name and standing; if he is a man of the market, it is a name and a rank for him. If he sees that he is collared and his collar is weak, he is miserly in matters of religion and no one benefits from him; if he is a scholar, he conceals knowledge; if he is a sultan, he is miserly with judgment and rule. Whoever buys a slave-girl with a silver collar on her neck will engage in a trade and gain strength and the upper hand from that trade, and he may gain a wife or a slave-girl from that trade. It is also said that a collar of any kind is corruption in religion. Wearing a collar signifies miserliness, and it may signify for its wearer kingship, a child and a trust.
(Whoever sees) that he wears a collar of gold, silver, iron, brass, lead or anything else, he has gone deep in corrupting his religion or has squandered his trust.
