Bloodletting (venesection) فصد

In a dream, if done by someone skilled at it in the customary manner of bloodletter and patient, it signifies rest and recovery from illnesses for one who needs it. If it is without need, it is a warning of an illness that will befall the limb that was bled. The one bled in a dream is like one who in waking life needs bleeding from the median vein but is bled from the basilic vein, or who needs bleeding from the basilic vein but the bloodletter bleeds him from the cephalic vein; judge bloodletting in the well-known veins accordingly. Whoever is bled in a dream in a limb will need to have it bled in waking life because of some ailment.

Whoever sees that a young man cut his vein lengthwise will hear words from an enemy, or criticism of him, that will affect him, and his wealth will double, two for every one. If he sees that he cut it crosswise and his vein was severed, a relative of his will die whose standing is like that vein among his veins, and the one who dies may be himself. If the bloodletting is in his right arm, he will succeed in his livelihood and his wealth, and his wealth will double. If it is in the left, he will succeed with respect to his partner or friend, and his partner and friend will be doubled; if he has a wife, she will grow plump and become better than two women. If he has a vein in his head bled, he will gain another chief. If he sees that a person bled him, he will hear words from a friend; if blood came out of his vein, he will be rewarded for it, and if no blood came out, something true will be said about him and the bloodletter will come out free of sin. If he cut it crosswise and severed his vein, those words about him will be cut off; if he cut it lengthwise, the words will increase and multiply. If a young man bled him and blood came out, a misfortune from the ruler will befall him and money will be taken from him in proportion to the amount of blood that came out of him; if he cut it crosswise and severed it, the ruler will not proceed to harm him, and if he cut it lengthwise, it will come back to him another time. If a scholar bled him and the blood came out into a basin or a tray, he will fall ill and his money will go on his dependents and he will spend it on physicians. If he bled him and he saw neither blood nor a scratch, he will hear words from his wife and from whoever is associated with that limb, in proportion to the pain he felt. If he was bled and disliked the blood coming out of him, he will fall ill and suffer harm in his wealth. If the bloodletting benefits him and the blood comes out in a suitable amount, his body will be healthy that year and his religion sound. If he took a lancet to bleed someone else, and he bled his wife with it, she will give birth to a girl if the cut was lengthwise; if it was crosswise and he severed the vein, he will cut off what is between her and her relatives, through death or in life.

Whoever sees that he wants to be bled wants to repent from a sin. If he thinks the blood has overwhelmed him, he is in the grip of passion and overpowering sin. If he was bled and the blood came out, he will repent and turn back from a sin; if the blood was black, he persists in a great sin and will repent of it.

Whoever sees that he is being bled and blood is coming out of him will come out of a sin, or something will leave his hands and then come back to him. Bloodletting is also the outlay of money for writing a legal deed, because the lancet is like the pen and the blood is like the ink. A virgin who is bled will marry. Bloodletting for a boy is circumcision. Bloodletting for a prisoner is good tidings of his release, because blood is imprisoned in the veins. Bloodletting for a pregnant woman is her delivery and her postnatal bleeding; if the bloodletting is not in the month of delivery, she will miscarry. Bloodletting is spending money on the upkeep of the body. Bloodletting for a rich man is the alms-tax (zakat) on his wealth. Bloodletting by an unknown woman is worldly fortune coming toward the one who sees her.
