In a dream it is a scheme; it is also said rancor. It is also said that biting signifies excessive love [the text here is corrupt: "because the one bitten, whether by a human or something else"]. It also signifies an ordeal. Whoever bites his own flesh and throws it to the ground is a backbiter (slanderer).
Whoever sees a person biting his fingertips, that person is rancorous, because of His saying, the Exalted:
“Here you are loving them but they are not loving you, while you believe in the Scripture - all of it. And when they meet you, they say, "We believe." But when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you in rage. Say, "Die in your rage. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of that within the breasts."”
Quran 3:119 · Saheeh International
Whoever sees that he bit his own fingers will be struck by regret; it is also said he will be an oppressor, because of His saying, the Exalted:
“And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way.”
Quran 25:27 · Saheeh International
