Banner / knowledge ('alam / 'ilm, same spelling in Arabic) علم

In a dream it is marriage to a woman descended from 'Ali ('Alawiyya): whoever sees that he obtained a banner ('alam) will marry a woman of 'Alid descent. Whoever is given the name of a banner in a dream, or has a banner unfurled for him, or is given a banner, it is good news for him of a fine reputation, of people being guided by his knowledge or his way, and of his knowledge or his authority spreading in the world. Knowledge ('ilm) of God or of the Sunna in a dream indicates, for one who is ignorant of these, mercy and kindness from God. If he learns sorcery or the like, it indicates his heretical innovation and his error.
