In a dream, voluntary charity indicates the warding off of affliction. It indicates recovery for the sick, and it indicates provision and good. Charity (sadaqa) indicates truthfulness (sidq), since it becomes that word when the final letter is dropped, and the truthfulness of a reported saying. It indicates the reverse of this if in the dream he gives as charity something with which charity is not permitted: if he gives in charity things such as carrion, wine or a rotting carcass, he mismanages his own wealth or the wealth of others, and he may be one who follows one sin with another. If he gives good, wholesome charity in the dream and he is someone who keeps livestock, he will be blessed in them. Likewise, if he tends crops, it indicates their growth and blessing, and likewise if he is an owner of orchards. If in the dream he gives charity to a man known to be rich, it may indicate that man's poverty and need of charity. If he gives charity to a thief, it may indicate that the thief will stop stealing. Charity may also indicate humiliating the envious and subduing enemies, because by it the devil is humiliated. Secret charity in a dream: if the giver is a sinner, his sins will be forgiven and God will accept his repentance. Secret charity may also indicate closeness to the king or to scholars.
Whoever sees that he is asked for something and gives charity: if he is a scholar, he will teach people knowledge, because the one who asks is a seeker of knowledge. If he is a ruler, he will be put in charge of peoples. If he is a merchant, people will benefit from him in buying and selling, or be guided to some matter. If he is a craftsman or a market trader, he will teach a hired worker a craft and a trade. If he feeds a poor person, he is a frightened man who will become safe and come out of his worries. If he feeds a disbeliever, he is strengthening an enemy. The interpretation of the poor person is one who is being tested. Charity may also indicate glorifying God, visiting graves and acts of righteousness.
