Reading the Quran from a written copy (mushaf) in a dream signifies command and prohibition, honor, joy and victory.
(Whoever sees) that he is reciting the Quran from memory, without a copy, is a man who disputes over a right, and his claim is true; he returns the trusts in his hands, and he is a humble believer who enjoins what is right and forbids what is wrong.
(Whoever sees) that he was given part of the Quran, or it was in his hand, let him keep in mind that verse or those letters of the Quran. If it was revealed concerning mercy or glad tidings, the interpretation of his dream is mercy or glad tidings that will reach him. If it was revealed concerning a commandment, it is a counsel by which God will benefit him if he acts upon it. If it was revealed concerning a threat or punishment, it is a warning of retribution for a sin he has committed. If it concerns an account or a parable about past nations, it is an admonition for him. If he sees that he is reciting the Quran and understands what is in it, he is a man of sound mind, to whom God Almighty has given intelligence.
(Whoever sees) that the Quran is recited to him, or that goodness and wisdom are taught to him, and he does not accept them, it is harm from a ruler or punishment from God Almighty. If an illiterate person sees that he is reading the Quran, he will die. If he reads the Quran and it is his trade, he is a man of whims (heresies). If he sees that he is eating the Quran, he earns his living by it. If he sees that he completes the Quran, he will have a great reward and attain what he wishes. If a Jew sees that he is reading the Quran, the Quran is an admonition to him in his worldly life: its verses of punishment are punishment in his worldly life, its verses of blessing are blessing in his worldly life, and its parables are the likenesses of his worldly life. His recitation does not count as faith for an unbeliever; rather, whatever verse of wrath or mercy and the like is in it is interpreted as how his chief will treat him likewise.
(Whoever sees) that he is writing the Quran on pottery or seashells interprets it by his own opinion. If he sees that he is writing it on the ground, he is a zindiq (a heretic who conceals unbelief). It is also said that reading the Quran signifies the fulfillment of needs and a clear, untroubled state.
(Whoever sees) a group of naked people reading the Quran, these are people with heretical whims who have devoted themselves wholly to them.
(Whoever sees) that he is writing the Quran on a cloak interprets the Quran by his own opinion.
(Whoever sees) that he has memorized the Quran when he had not memorized it will attain dominion.
(Whoever sees) that he is listening to the Quran, his authority will grow strong, his end will be good, and he will be protected from the plots of schemers.
(Whoever sees) that he is reciting some of the Quran, whether he knows its place or not, if he is sick God Almighty will heal him, as God Almighty says:
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَآءٌ لِّمَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers.”
