In a dream it indicates worry and misery caused by a slanderer from whose hand and tongue no one is safe. It may be that he becomes infatuated with someone whose temple resembles a scorpion when hair appears on it (a curl at the temple). The scorpion is a man who spreads slander among people, and the scorpion is an enemy from among one's relatives.
The trailing scorpion (a large, tail-dragging kind) is the same, except that it is more hostile and greater in its affair, but it is patient until it achieves its aim. It is also said: the trailing scorpion is wealth that comes to him; killing it is wealth that leaves his hand and returns to him; and a scorpion's sting is a surplus that comes to him but does not stay in his hand. If the scorpion strikes him, the enemy will backbite him, or something hateful will befall him to that extent. Scorpions burning in his home is the death of his enemies. If he eats a scorpion's flesh cooked or roasted, he will obtain wealth from a slanderous enemy, like a lawful inheritance; if it is raw, it is unlawful. If he swallows a scorpion, an enemy will enter upon his womenfolk and his enemy will get into his secrets. If he sees a scorpion in his shirt or his shop, it is his enemy in his livelihood and earnings; if he sees it on his bed, it is an enemy and worry within his family. Whoever eats a scorpion raw backbites a sinful person, and the same applies to every animal whose flesh is eaten raw. The scorpion indicates a man who shows on his tongue what is in his heart and does not know his friend from his enemy. The scorpion is an enemy of weak resolve who backbites. If he sees the scorpion but it does not sting him while he is afraid of it, the enemy will backbite him and speak ill of him; if he is not afraid of it, it is an enemy, but he will not backbite him and nothing hateful will befall him from him.
(Whoever sees) that he killed a scorpion will defeat his enemy.
(Whoever sees) a scorpion in his hand stinging people is a person who backbites people and stirs them up against one another with slander.
(Whoever sees) something resembling a scorpion that is not a scorpion, it is a man whom he thinks is his enemy but who is not an enemy. The scorpion's sting is the tongue of the slanderer.
