Ribs in a dream are women, so whatever happens to them, its interpretation is something happening to them, because women were created from ribs. The ribs are a protection for what the body cavity contains, like a tent with its poles and its covering, or a house with its corners or its roof, or a ship and its ribs. Ribs may signify relatives of the family differing in rank and age yet equal in affection, love and mutual help. Ribs signify hidden deeds and the number of the threads of a weave, and they signify the punishment or bliss that will be borne by them. Whoever sees his ribs protruding from beneath his skin, punishment for them is feared for him. If they grow bigger in the dream, or their flesh and skin thicken, it signifies provision, plumpness and recovery from illnesses. If he sees himself in the dream without ribs, he will lose in waking life whoever they signify, whether family, money or child; or he may do something he believes right while it is wrong; or it may signify becoming bent over, whether from old age or illness. If he sees that he eats of his own ribs, he will become a burden on his family and relatives, or he will sell the timbers of his house or what shelters him from heat and cold.
