Whoever sees in a dream that he performed the obligatory pilgrimage of Islam, circled the House (the Kaaba), and performed some of the rites, this signifies the soundness of his religion and his steadfastness on its path, a reward he will be granted, safety from what he fears, a debt he will pay off, and trusts he will deliver to the Muslims.
If he sees that he is setting out for the pilgrimage in its proper season: if he has been dismissed from office he will be appointed, if he is a traveler he will be safe, if he is a merchant he will profit, if he is sick he will be healed, if he is in debt it will be paid off for him, and if he has gone astray God Most High will guide him.
If he sees that he performed the pilgrimage or the lesser pilgrimage (Umrah), he will live a long life and his affairs will go well.
If he sees that he set out for the pilgrimage (outside its proper time): if he is a governor he will be dismissed, if he is a merchant he will lose, if he is a traveler he will be robbed on the road, and if he is healthy he will fall sick.
If he sees that he owes a pilgrimage, he is ungrateful for blessings and for the fulfilling of trusts. The pilgrimage in a dream signifies going back and forth in one's intention, paying off debt, doing good deeds, or striving to do what one is obliged to do in kindness, such as to one's parents or teacher; or emigration; or visiting a scholar or a devout worshipper. If he is unemployed, he will strive in some service. The pilgrimage may signify the marriage of an unmarried person. For a king it signifies fortifying himself against enemies, the defeat of rebels, and the conquest of a great city in the lands of unbelief. The pilgrimage may also signify going on a military campaign. If he is a seeker of knowledge he will attain his aim; if he is poor he will become rich; if he is sick he will die; or if he is a sinner he will repent. If he is married he will divorce his wife, or keep company with someone who benefits him in his religion or his worldly life. If he is an unbeliever he will embrace Islam. If he travels to the pilgrimage riding, he will be granted help in all that we have mentioned at the hands of whoever his mount represents: if he is riding a Bactrian camel, he will keep company with such a man, because it is the mount of the nobility. If he leads a riding camel, he will achieve this with the help of a woman. If he rides an elephant, he will perform the pilgrimage in the company of a king. If he travels on foot, he will fall into an oath for which he must pay an expiation. It may also signify provision, spoils, returning from a journey, relief after hardship, recovery from illness, and a return to the state one was in before. If he carries provisions with him, it signifies God-consciousness (taqwa). Carrying provisions may signify wealth for a poor person, and for a debtor the paying off of his debt. Whoever performs the pilgrimage without performing any of its rites will go to the ruler for some need.
Whoever sees that he is setting out for the pilgrimage alone while the people bid him farewell and then turn back from him, this signifies his death.
