Whoever sees that he swallowed pearls or sold them will forget the Quran. Pearls are knowledge.
Whoever sees that he is selling pearls will be granted much knowledge and become great among people. Whoever puts pearls into his mouth will be good in religion. If he sees that he is scattering pearls from his mouth and people are taking them while he does not take them, he is a judge who admonishes people and they benefit from him.
Whoever sees that he was given a large pearl will have a daughter from one of his family, in proportion to what he saw, and perhaps it will be a slave girl. If he obtains a pearl, he will marry.
Whoever sees that he borrowed pearls, it is a child who will not survive. If he sees that he brought up many pearls from the bottom of the sea, or from a river, enough to be measured by bushels, carried in loads and weighed on the steelyard, he will obtain lawful wealth from the king's treasures or from the man associated with that river. Many pearls are servants, and a large inheritance for one expecting an inheritance. Many pearls are knowledge for the scholar, office for the governor, trade for the merchant, and for the market trader and the craftsman, their trade. Pearls are the perfection and beauty of everything.
Whoever sees that he swallowed pearls is concealing testimony that he holds.
Whoever sees that he chewed them is backbiting people out of hypocrisy. If he vomited them, chewed them and swallowed them, he is plotting against people and backbiting them. Whoever sees that he throws pearls in the bathhouse recites the Quran on the roadsides.
Whoever sees that he swallows pearls and closes his mouth on them memorizes the Quran and does not teach it to anyone. It is also said that whoever brings loads of pearls, it is sorrow.
