In a dream it is a woman from a household of people of might and strength. If it is of brass, she is from a household of people who possess the goods and adornments of this world. If it is of wood, she is from a household of people who have goods and among whom there is hypocrisy. If it is of gypsum, she is from a household of people who imitate the Pharaohs. If it is of clay, she is from a household of religious people. The brazier signifies the state (government), and it also signifies idleness and decline.
Whoever sees fire blazing in a brazier or an oven, that signifies children who will be born to the dreamer. The brazier signifies the master of the house. Whoever sees that he kindles a fire on a brazier without food on it will stir up a man who is the master of a household with words of slander or quarrel. If the cooking pot is the mistress of the house, then the brazier is her husband, who faces the sins and endures the toil of earning, while she, veiled and covered, tends to his care in the house. The brazier may also signify the wife and the pot the husband: she is forever burning him with her words and demanding her provision from him, while he sizzles and turns over in her boiling, inside and out. A brazier empty of fire signifies worry and misery; with fire in it, it is the fulfilling of needs and provisions. The brazier signifies whatever a person rides or treads upon, such as a wife, a mount, a gathering-seat or a post. It may signify a lamp, a pulpit, or a birthing chair. It signifies affairs being accomplished and the difficult being made easy. It may signify a father, a mother, a woman carrying her child, a shop from which one obtains what one desires, a vehicle on which one settles, or a house for one who stays in it and then leaves. Seeing a brazier (kanun) may also signify the month of Kanun [the winter months of December/January]. Whoever owns a brazier or sees one will marry if he is single, or his wife will conceive if there is a pot on it; if he is an unbeliever he will embrace Islam, or if he is immoral he will repent, because it is the place of fire, and fire is warning and guidance. A man said to me: I saw a brazier with some fire in it and firewood near it. I said to him: The brazier is your stomach, and the firewood is coarse food that weighed heavily on you last night. He said: Yes, that is how it was.
