In a dream it is elevation from the ruler or from a woman. If it is of iron, it is strength and victory; if of wood, it is less than that, with hypocrisy.
Whoever sees that he is sitting on a chair will become an agent or a guardian (executor). If he is fit for authority, he will be invested with authority and a governorship and gain elevation. If he is absent, he will return to his family and attain what he wants.
Whoever sees that he is sitting on a chair with clothes on it, or on his couch, will obtain great knowledge, speedy good, quick kindness, honor and elevation. For holders of office the chair signifies loftiness and elevation, spouses and children, grand dwellings, mounts and clothing.
Whoever sees that he obtained a chair and sat on it will obtain authority, or will marry a woman in accordance with the size and form of the chair. It is said that if he has a pregnant wife, she will bear a child; and it is said he will die a martyr.
Whoever sees that his chair broke, it is a sign of his death, or his wife's death, or his separation from her, or the fall of his standing and authority. The chair is joy and a speedy rank for whoever sits on it. For whoever sits on it, the chair signifies success in the Hereafter in proportion to its size, beauty, height and newness. There is no good in it for a sick person. A pregnant woman sitting on it heralds the midwife's chair which she mounts at childbirth: if there is a crown on her head on it, she will give birth to a boy; if there is a net, a sword sheath, or a spearhead-butt without a spear, she will give birth to a girl. Seeing the Footstool (Kursi) of God the Exalted, which is above the heavens, signifies for a person of knowledge high degrees and lofty positions, especially if he sees it in a complete form. It may mean, for a pregnant woman, deliverance from her hardship; for a single person, a spouse; for a married person, a child. It signifies travel for those who travel, and for a sick person, being carried on the bier of death, or a mount he rides, a house he lives in, or a custom he establishes, for which he becomes famous and by which he is known after his death.
