If in a dream it is free of pain, that is praiseworthy for all people, especially for women. If the eyelids have little flesh and have sores on them, it signifies distress and grief. The eyelids point to the weapons with which a person protects himself, and to all that shields a person from harm, such as a master-teacher. The eyelids may signify brothers and sisters, spouses and children, the two leaves of a door, a chest, a treasury, a veil, guards and servants, keepers of secrets and holders of deposits, and also sickness and anger.
If he sees the eyelid of a person of high rank twitching at him, it signifies that person's anger at him, and his discovering a matter that calls for turning a blind eye. If the eyelids point to spouses, the upper is male and the lower female, and whatever is produced between them, such as eye discharge and the like, signifies a child. Tears resemble drops, and the hair on them signifies their state of warding off harm; so their beauty and their freedom from bleariness signify the good state of whoever the eyelids point to. Their weakness may signify a decrease of respect and lack of knowledge. The eyelids are likened to clouds and tears to rain. Sick eyelids signify passionate love and infatuation for the dreamer. If the eye points to wealth, the eyelids are its alms-tax [zakat] and its fortress.
