Dream meaning · al-Nabulsi

Crescent moon (new moon) هلال

In a dream, if it rises in its proper place, it is a noble male child for whoever sees it, or a governorship, or profit in his trade.

(Whoever sees) crescents gathered together will make the pilgrimage, because of His saying, the Exalted:

“They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the crescent moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for ḥajj [pilgrimage]." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allāh. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allāh that you may succeed.”

Quran 2:189 · Saheeh International

to the end of the verse.

(Whoever sees) the crescent red, the woman will miscarry before her term is complete. If the crescent falls to the earth, it is a child that will be born.

(Whoever sees) the crescent alone while people have crowded to sight it and have not seen it, the dreamer will die; or his year may be a wretched one.

(Whoever sees) the crescent rising at a time other than the start of the month, out of its time, it is good with happiness in it: the return of an absent person, a child that will be born, or the arrival of a king. The rising of the crescent indicates a promise kept or receiving money, because with it rents fall due and debts become payable. Its rising from other than its place of rising, such as the east, the north or the qibla, is something objectionable; if it disappears quickly from those directions, the objectionable thing will not last. Seeing the crescent is victory over enemies. It is said that confirming the appointed time of the crescent indicates the king, the commander, the leader and the chief; the newborn emerging from the womb crying out; sudden news; the rebel and insurgent, if it rises from its place accompanied by darkness, rain of blood, or gutters running without rain; the return of the absent; the muezzin climbing the minaret and the preacher on the pulpit; and a noble object of pursuit. It may indicate the completion of terms and the falling due of a debt owed to or by the dreamer. It may indicate the pilgrimage for one who sees it in the months or days of pilgrimage, if there is something in the dream that indicates it, such as the pilgrim's call, shaving the head, being unclothed, or the like.

(Whoever sees) the crescent dark, or made of copper, or in the form of a snake or a scorpion, there is no good in it.

(Whoever sees) a crescent on the first night, his wife will conceive; if she is already pregnant, she will bear a male child. The crescent is a small infant. Seeing the crescent may indicate the repentance of the sinner, the conversion of the unbeliever to Islam, and coming out of hardships such as prison, or the recovery of the sick. Seeing the crescent at its beginning is better than in its waning.

(Whoever sees) a crescent that rose and then disappeared, the matter he is seeking will not be completed for him.
