In a dream they indicate years. A black or yellow cow is a year of joy and plenty. A white blaze on the cow's forehead is hardship at the beginning of the year; a white patch on its side is hardship in the middle of the year; and a white patch on its hindquarters is hardship at the end of the year. Fat cows are years of plenty, and lean ones are years of drought and barrenness. Eating beef in a dream is gaining lawful wealth during the year. It is also said: the cow is elevation, noble wealth and plenty in proportion to what he obtained and ate. If it is fat, it is a pious woman; if it has horns, it is a woman who is defiant and rebellious toward her husband; if it gives milk, she is a woman of benefit and good. If he wants to milk it and it fends him off with its horn, she will refuse him and rebel against him. If he sees someone else milking it and it does not fend him off, the milker is betraying him with his wife. If he sees that it gave milk on its own and the milk was wasted, his wife is corrupt. Cattle tripe is wealth and provision of no great value in that year, and years of plenty. If he sees his cow pregnant, it is his wife's pregnancy. If he sees that he bought it, he will obtain the governorship of a prosperous district. If he sees in his house a cow sucking its own calf's milk, it is a woman who acts as a procuress for her own daughter. If he sees a slave milking his master's cow, he will marry his master's wife and the world will flow to him.
(Whoever sees) that he found a cow will obtain a favor from a noble man; and if he is unmarried, he will marry a blessed woman.
(Whoever sees) that cow's milk was given to him as a gift will obtain a righteous, forbearing, noble woman, or attain authority or a governorship.
(Whoever sees) that he is riding a known cow will obtain wealth and be saved from his worry and grief.
(Whoever sees) that a cow entered his house and butted him with its horns will suffer a loss and will not be safe from his household and relatives.
(Whoever sees) the horn of a bull or a cow will obtain great wealth, take charge of a great affair, and it will bequeath him an eminent reputation among people.
(Whoever sees) in his dream that he is beating a bull and a cow with a stick has many sins before God Almighty; likewise if he sees that he bit them.
(Whoever sees) that a bull or a cow scratched him will suffer illness in proportion to the scratch. If he sees a bull or a cow leap upon him, hardship and punishment will befall him and his being killed is feared.
(Whoever sees) that a bull fell on him, the dreamer will die that year.
(Whoever sees) that he rode a black cow, or that it entered his house and he tied it up there, will obtain joy and good or kindness, and grief, worry, sorrow and loneliness will leave him. The cow in a dream is a sign of good for everyone. If he sees them all gathered together, it indicates turmoil; and their lowing (raising their voices) indicates people known to be without manners. A skinned cow is a calamity among relatives; half a skinned cow is a calamity concerning a sister or a daughter; a quarter of the meat is a calamity concerning the wife; and a small amount of it is a calamity befalling the other relatives. As for cattle entering the city: if they follow one another and their number is clear, they are years that are coming; if they are fat, it is prosperity, and if they are lean, it is hardship. If they differ in this, and the first of them is fat, prosperity will come first; and if it is lean, hardship will come first. If they come all together or in irregular groups, and the city is by the sea, and it is the season for voyages, ships will arrive according to their number and condition; otherwise it is strife coming in, wave after wave, like the faces of cattle; unless they are all yellow, in which case they are diseases that will come upon people. If they are of various colors with hideous horns, or people are running away from them, or fire and smoke come out of their mouths and noses, it is an army, a raid or an enemy that will descend upon them and camp in their courtyard. A pregnant cow is a year in which plenty is hoped for.
(Whoever sees) that he is milking a cow and drinking its milk will become rich if he is poor, will gain honor and his standing will rise; and if he is rich, his wealth and honor will increase. Whoever is given a small male or female calf will have a child.
(Whoever sees) a herd of unknown cattle with no owners coming forward or going away, or entering or leaving a place: if their colors are all yellow or all red with no difference among them, those are diseases that will occur in that place; and if their colors vary, they are years.
(Whoever sees) that he owns a fat cow, it is a year of plenty; and if it is pregnant, it is more abundant and greater.
(Whoever sees) that he is holding a cow by its tether, or sees that he owns it, will marry a woman of good character and religion.
(Whoever sees) that he is riding a cow, his wife will die and he will inherit from her. It is also said that he will marry or take a concubine, or that poverty or wealth will come to him in proportion to its fatness or leanness.
(Whoever sees) that he gave a cow as a gift to a ruler will denounce some people to a ruler: if his gift is accepted, the ruler will listen to him concerning them; and if his gift is not accepted, they will be safe from him.
(Whoever sees) that he is eating beef or drinking cow's milk will obtain an increase in his wealth and authority, and the sound natural disposition (fitra) in religion; and if he is sick, God Almighty will cure him.
(Whoever sees) that he is eating beef fat will obtain plenty, blessing and good.
(Whoever sees) that he is eating cow's ghee, his wealth will increase.
(Whoever sees) that he was given cowhides will take wealth from the ruler or one of the ruler's officials; and if the hides are taken from him, he will pay a fine to the ruler.
(Whoever sees) that he obtained or owns cowhides will obtain much wealth from a noble man. The yellow cow may indicate evil and misery because of an inheritance. The cow is farmland that is cultivated and very blessed. Seeing the cow of the Children of Israel is strife over a killing for whoever owns it, or the appearance of a sign in the town where he saw it; and if he is disobedient to his mother, he will obey her.
(Whoever sees) that he slaughtered a wild cow (oryx) to eat its meat will obtain wealth from a beautiful woman.
