In a dream it is a servant. It is also said: a thief from within the household. It is also said: the female cat is a wicked, deceitful woman. It is associated with one who hovers around a person and guards him, so it both harms and benefits him. Whoever is bitten or scratched by a cat (sinnawr) will be ill for a year (sana); if the cat is wild, it is more severe. If it is a calm female cat, it is a year of rest; and if it is wild and very harmful, it is a miserable year in which he will have toil and hardship.
(Whoever sees) that he sold a cat will spend his wealth.
(Whoever sees) that he ate cat meat will learn sorcery.
(Whoever sees) that he turned into a cat will earn a living from thievery and from what has no good in it.
(Whoever sees) that a cat entered a house, a thief will enter there; and if the cat goes off with something, the thief will go off with something from there.
(Whoever sees) that he slaughtered a cat, killed it or caught it will catch a thief and get the better of him.
(Whoever sees) that he obtained some of a cat's meat or fat will obtain some of a thief's wealth or of what is stolen.
(Whoever sees) that he struggled with a cat until it scratched or bit him will suffer a long illness and then recover from it, or severe worry will befall him and then God Almighty will relieve him. If the cat is the one defeated, he will recover from his illness or his worry quickly; if the cat is the victor, it will be more severe in the illness or worry. The sinnawr is the qitt (cat). The cat (hirr) in a dream indicates the book (of one's deeds), because of His saying, Exalted is He:
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
“And they say, "Our Lord, hasten for us our share [of the punishment] before the Day of Account."”

(the word qitt, 'share/record', sounding like qitt, 'cat'). It indicates a person who is gentle in speech and who endears himself to people's hearts by leaping about and playing, while at the same time he watches things closely, and when he finds an opportunity he causes damage. If the cat and the mouse, or the wolf and the sheep, are on good terms, it is a sign of hypocrisy and flattery; and if people are in fear, they will be safe from their enemy. It may be a sign of justice among the subjects, or of the corruption of the world's conditions; and so it is with all opposites when they come together. It may indicate repelling enemies and overpowering opponents, and a clever, cunning young man. The female cat may indicate a woman devoted to raising her children, sheltering them and disciplining them. If the cat scratches a person, draws his blood or tears out his eye, it indicates an enemy who strives (against him). Seeing the civet cat in a dream indicates a man who has the look of wicked people and the character of good people.
