Building (construction) بناء

Seeing new building on the ground in a dream is the gain of worldly goods, private or general, in proportion to what he saw of it. If he sees that his house or room grew by a good measure, it is ampleness in his worldly life; and if it exceeds its measure, people will enter that house without permission for a calamity, a wedding or grief.

Whoever sees that he is constructing a building will gather his relatives, friends and soldiers. If he is a ruler, it is the return of his power, the uniting of his joy, an increase in his strength and the rising of his affairs in proportion to the height and solidity of the building. If he pulls it down and removes it, it is the dispersal of the gathering of his relatives, companions, friends and soldiers and the loss of his power. Every act of a workman [is attributed to] the act of God the Exalted. If he sees that he is renovating an old building belonging to a scholar, it is the renewal of that scholar's way. If the building belonged to Pharaoh or an oppressor, it is the renewal of his way. If he sees that he began a building, dug it from its foundation and built from its base until he raised it high, he is seeking knowledge, office or a trade, and he will attain what he seeks.

Whoever sees that he is putting up a building in a town or village will marry a woman there. If he builds with earthenware, it is ostentation and showing off. If he builds with mud, it is lawful earning. If it is decorated, it is knowledge or office along with purity and delight. If he sees that he built a building of gypsum and baked brick with an image on it, he is plunging into falsehood, because building with gypsum and baked brick is hypocrisy, and hypocrisy is building with gypsum and baked brick. It is also said that whoever works gypsum does what is not lawful.

Whoever sees that he is building in a foreign land will marry a woman whom he had not heard of before, or he will remain abroad and die there. Building with mud is religion and certainty; dry mud is gross [ill-gotten] wealth. Whoever sees that he plastered the grave of the Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, with mud will perform the Hajj with wealth.

Whoever sees that he plastered his house with mud while the mud is wet, it is good.

Whoever sees that he ate it, it is wealth he will consume in proportion to what he ate of it. A handsome building indicates harmony, love, offspring, provision, splendid clothing, virgin women and children from them. A solid building may indicate strength and toughness; it may indicate mutual support and help. Seeing a building may indicate long life. It may indicate its builder: if in the dream it is a church, the one it points to is a Christian; if it is a mosque, the one it points to is a Muslim; if it is a madrasa, the one it points to is a jurist; or a ribat [Sufi lodge], the one it points to is a worshipper or ascetic. Viewing a building in a dream indicates the dreamer's ambition and his concern with what suits him of that.

Whoever builds in a dream a mosque or a place of devotion to God the Exalted: if he is a king, he will establish the truth, enjoin good and forbid evil; if he is a scholar, he will write a book and people will benefit from his knowledge or his legal rulings; if he is wealthy, he will pay the zakat of his wealth; if he is unmarried, he will marry; if he is married, he will be granted a child and a good reputation will spread for him; if he is poor, he will become rich; or else he will serve that place and keep it alive with the remembrance of God the Exalted and looking after its needs; or else he will bring people together in good and help them in obeying God the Exalted; or else he will become a broker, or repent to God the Exalted of what he is committing, or be guided to Islam, or die a martyr, or that will be his palace in Paradise. This is for one who built in that dream with what one should build with. If he built it with what is not permitted to build with, or deviated from the prayer-niche or turned it away from its direction, it indicates the reversal of good into evil. If he sees domes, or builds them in the dream, it indicates the raising of his standing or his joining people of high rank.

Whoever sees that he is vaulting over the sides of a cistern will discipline his child.

Whoever sees that he built a dome upon the clouds will obtain authority and strength for his rule.

Whoever sees that he has a building of green domes above the heavens and the earth, his deeds will be good and he will die a martyr.

Whoever sees that he is building a bathhouse will marry [literally, "build"] a woman. If a sick person sees as if he is building his house and does not know when he demolished it, that is his body, to which health has returned, and the illness he was in has left him.

Whoever sees that his father laid the foundation of a building and he raised its height will complete his father's works in religion or worldly life and make them sound.

Whoever sees that workmen are working in his house or room will quarrel with his wife or abandon a friend of his, and the like.
